The ATC and MD work closely together to facilitate student athlete care. The ATC acts as the supervising physician under which the ATC works. The athletic trainer acts as a bridge between the athlete and the medical care provided to the physician.

A coach is supervising practice when one of his/her athletes becomes injured. He evaluates and tapes the athlete so they can return to practice. What is wrong with this situation?

The coach should know their limitations as it pertains to their states legal limitations. If an ATC or MD is nor available the duration of practice/play the coach should first and foremost be CPR and first aid certified. In most cases the coach is unable to evaluate and treat.
