Where is the spinal cavity and what does it contain?

A very narrow cavity that is also a part of the dorsal cavity. This cavity includes the spinal cord, the meninges of the spinal chord, and the fluid-filled spaces within the spinal cord.

What is body cavities?

Any space in the body that contains fluid and organs

Define body planes.

Combine anatomy and geometry to intersect the body, or a specific section of the body, into two parts. These planes are imaginary, but help others visualize how the body should be viewed.

What is deep?

Deeper inside the body.

Where is the vertal cavity located and what are organs within this cavity referred to as?

Located at the front of the body. Because the ventral cavity has anterior and posterior portions, it houses many organs. The organs within this cavity are also referred to as viscera.

Where is the abdominopelvic cavity and what does it contain?

Located below the thoracic cavity and the diaphragm. There are two parts of this cavity. The abdominal cavity, which houses organs from the digestive, renal, and endocrine systems, as well as the adrenal glands. The pelvic cavity houses the bladder and the reproductive organs.

Where is the cranial cavity located and what does it contain?

Located in the most superior cavity if the body It is the space inside of the skull. It contains the brain, then meninges of the brain, and cerebrospinal fluid. Back cavity- dorsal Front cavity- ventriole.

Where is the thoracic cavity and what does it contain?

Located in the ribcage within the torso. It is the anterior body cavity that holds the organs of the respiratory and cardiovascular systems.

Which healthcare fields especially benefit from the body plane?

Medical imaging.

Why are understanding body position and directional terms important?

So you can help locate the patient's injuries. The body should be standing erect and facing forward. The arms should be at the sides with the palms facing forward. The feet should be positioned slightly apart.

What is midline?

The middle of the body.

What is distal?

away from the origination of a structure.

What is posterior?

back of the body.

What is medial?

closer to, heading toward, the midline.

What is oblique plane?

diagonal and intersects the body between the three primary planes.

What is the orbital cavity?

eyes

what is lateral?

farther from, or heading away from, the midline.

What is anterior

front of the body

What is transverse plane?

horizontal and intersects the body, separating the inferior and superior (top and bottom) portions.

What is the prone position?

lying face down

What is the supine position?

lying face up

what is the nasal cavity?

nasal passages

What is superficial?

nearer the surface of the body.

What is the buccal cavity?

oral cavity

What is the anatomical position?

the standard, or basic, body position.

what is inferior?

toward the lower part of the body.

What is proximal?

toward the origination of a structure (point of attachment)

What is superior?

toward the upper part of the body.

What is sagittal plane?

vertical and intersects the body into left and right sides. if the separation occurs at the body's midline, that is referred to as the midsagittal plane.

What is formal plane?

vertical and intersects the body, separating the anterior and posterior positions.
