What are some license renewal exceptions?

Any licensee who is on active duty in the armed forces of the United States in an area designated as a combat zone is temporarily exempt from the renewal license fee, continuing education requirements and any other related requirements. The licensee is obligated to inform the Department by written or electronic mail of the desire to exercise the temporary exemption and provide proof of the active-duty status. If the licensee applying for the temporary exemption is responsible for supervision and oversight of licensed activities, he or she must notify the Department what arrangements have been made for adequate provision of that supervision and oversight. A temporary exemption is valid until 90 days after the licensee's release from the active duty upon which the exemption was based, but shall not exceed 36 months from the date of expiration of the license.

What are instructors responsible for?

Complying with all laws and rules relating to real estate education. Providing students with current and accurate information. Maintaining an environment conducive to learning. Assuring and certifying attendance of students enrolled in courses. Providing assistance to students and responding to questions relating to course materials. Attending workshops or instructional programs required by the Department.

What may the Department do in regards to education?

Conduct, hold or assist in conducting or holding a real estate clinic, meeting, course or institute, which may be open to a real estate licensees Incur the necessary expenses in connection with any clinic, meeting, course or institute Assist educational institutions in Michigan with sponsoring studies, research and programs for the purpose of raising the standards of professional practice in real estate and the competence of licensees.

What requirements must a real estate school meet to be approved by the Department?

How long must schools keep the students records and what must they contain?

No less than three years. They must contain the student's name and address The number of clock hours attended The student's grade, if an examination is required to determine successful completion of the course The date of course completion
