A. First you need to know that 1 square yard equals 9 squared feet. Just think of it as there are 3 feet in a yard and you just square it which means multiply the number by itself. So it looks like 3feet * 3feet which in turn gives you 9 squared feet. B. Now to solve the problem we need to multiply 16 foot x 18 foot to find the total area of carpet. C. 288 squared feet is what you should have got. D. Now that we know that we need to find out how many squared yards are in 288 squared feet. To do this we need to divide by 9. E. 288 / 9 = 32 squared yards F. Next we need to find the total cost by Multiplying 32 squared yards by $ 0.65. G. 32*0.65 = 20.8 dollars to fill the entire carpet area.
