Big Bang, GS10
Modern scientific article
-one giant star exploded scattering a gas contains elements for living things -5billion years ago gravity pulled atoms together creating s new star, the sun. While the left over pieces from the exploding star created 8 new planets that revolved around the sun.
What is cosmic background radiation?
-radiation left over from early development of the universe, proof of the Big Bang -electromagnetic radiation from the sky that filled the universe. - when the universe was smaller it was filled with a white-hot fog from CBR
What are two simplest elements that were formed after the Big Bang?
-starts burned, died, and exploded - the universe/Galaxy was created
Why is the Big Bang a good start date for history?
-the history of everything -the moment the universe grew from the size of an atom to the size of a galaxy in a second
What do different scales give you?
Different scales give you a different perspective of each point in history
What the football activity was to teach us.
Football field activity was designed to teach us how far apart each threshold sad on a scaled we could relate to. The activity was able to show us how at the beginning there were a few events, towards the center there were none leaving a giant gap, then toward the end there were a ton of events again.
The cartoon
The cartoon is showing how the Shiites and Sunnis are arguing with Kennedy about fitting Iraq. Kennedy is saying everyone should just get along while the Shiites and Sunnis want war
What is a redshift?
The displacement of spectral lines toward longer wavelengths (the red spectrum) in radiation from distant galaxies and celestial objects
Modern scientific article
The third planet became our home, earth. The sun was not too far, but not too close. Later a thin crust formed over the earth allowing water to form over certain parts of the earth. Gradually the water created sing cell organisms and the eventually plants and animals formed.
How old is the universe?
The universe is 13.8 billion years old
How do we know when the Big Bang was created?
When the stars started exploding, creating planets and galaxies in the universe.
Why is working with a scale important
Working on a scale is important because we are able to visually see where each event goes, and where they are related to other events on the time line/scale.
