Mission and Vision/Give a brief overview of Alliance history and distinctives
AB Simpson who was a Presbyterian minister from Canada. He formed the C&MA in the late 1800s It became formal denomination in 1965. Distinctives include deeper life through crisis experience, the fourfold Gospel (Christ as Savior, Sanctifier, Healer and Coming King.)
Sanctification/What is the practical significance of sanctification to the Christ-followers lifestyle?
All of the decisions I make about my life will be done in light of what it means to be a follower of Christ. Colossians 3:2 - Set your mind on things above, not on earthly things. Romans 6:14 - Sin will not rule over you, because you are not under the law but under grace.
Resurrection/What happens to the believer when he is resurrected? To the unbeliever?
All stand before God Believer is changed and will live with God forever - 1 Corinthians 15:51-52 - We will not all fall asleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the blink of an eye, at the last trumpet. Mortal will be clothed with immortality and the corruptible with incorruptability Revelation 21 - God's dwelling with humanity. Unbeliever will go into eternal torment - 2 Thessalonians 1:9 - These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction from the Lord's presence and from His glorious strength.
The Holy Scriptures/What criteria were used for determining which books were included/excluded in the canon of Scripture?
Apostolic authority - did the apostles write it? Antiquity - When was it written? Orthodoxy - did it follow the rules of faith? Catholicity - was it universally accepted? Tradition - How and by who was it written? Inspiration - What was the source?
Mission and Values/In what way is the task of Alliance missions also your personal responsibility?
As a follower of Christ I'm to help fulfill the Great Commission. As a member of the Alliance family it is my job to support Alliance mission through prayer, giving, going and sending.
Sanctification/In what way is progression connected with experiential sanctification?
As we walk by the Spirit, we become more like Christ. Galatians 5:16 ~ I say then, walk by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. Romans 6:2 - How can we who died to sin still live in it. Romans 6:11 - So, you too consider yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.
Mission and Values/How do you reflect this mission in the life of your congregation?
Be teaching on what it means to know Christ as Savior, Sanctifier, Healer and Coming King and what that looks like in our lives. Teaching on the Great Commission. Encouraging Congregation to support Alliance Missions, and encouraging them to live out their faith in our community.
Constituted Authority/Why is it important for the pastor to attend GC and DC?
Because he will be able to hear from the leadership and take those directives back to the church to carry out. Personal encouragement and spiritual renewal
Doctrine of the Church/What are some of the metaphors used in Scripture to describe the Church?
Body of Christ - Eph.4:15-16 - "But speaking the truth in love, let us grow in every way into Him who is the head - Christ. From Him the whole body, fitted and knit together by every supporting ligament, promotes the growth of the body for building up itself in love by the proper working of each individual part." Bride of Christ - Eph. 5:22-26 - wives submit to husband as to the Lord because Christ is head of the church. Husbands, love wives as Christ loves the church. Branches - John 15:1-2 - "I am the true vine, and My Father is the vineyard keeper. Every branch in Me that does not produce fruit HE removes, and He prunes every branch that produces fruit so that it will produce more fruit.
The Return of the Lord/What is the relationship between Israel and the Church?
Both are part of the future. God has specific plans to use Israel and bring unity between Israel and the church. Romans 9-11 Ephesians 2:14 - For He is our peace, who made both groups one and tore down the dividing wall of hostility. Ephesians 2:19 - we are one in Christ

Sanctification/What is meant by the phrase "the indwelling Christ"?
Christ lives in me. Christ is in the nature of the one who believes in Him in the manner found in Scripture. Colossians 1:27 ~ To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. Galatians 2:20 - I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me.
Resurrection/What are the essential points of Paul's teaching on the resurrection in 1 Corinthians 15?
Christ was raised on the 3rd day. Appeared first to Peter, then the 12, then to others. Without resurrection our faith is useless Resurrection comes through one man, Jesus Death is the last enemy abolished. Future resurrection of us all
The Return of the Lord/What does the term "the imminent return of Christ" mean to you and what Scriptural foundation do you have for your understanding?
Christ's return can happen at any moment. Matthew 24:42-44 - There fore be alert, since you don't know what day your Lord is coming..Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. Matthew 25:13 - you don't know the hour or day 1 Thessalonians - like a thief in the night

Lostness/According to Scripture, what is the inevitable result of lostness?
Condemnation John 3:18 - Anyone who believes in Him is not condemned, but anyone who does not believe is already condemned because he has not believed in the name of the One and Only Son of God. Death Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
The Person of God/What are some of the evidences and arguments for the existence of God
Cosmological or SETI - everything begun owes its existence to some producing cause. This cause must be infinitely great. Teleological - order or the position of things pervading a system imply intelligence and purpose as the cause of that order. That will or intelligence must be adequate to produce and direct the order. Moral argument - Man's intellectual and moral nature requires an intellectual and moral being for it's author. Man's emotional and volitional nature requires for its author a being that can meet the demand for these things in the human soul.
Alliance Church Government/What is the role and function of the DS as it relates to you and your church?
DS is the pastor for the pastors. He is there for advice, prayer support, and is the final authority on disputes that the church cannot manage.

The Person of the H.S./Give a brief explanation of the Scriptural teaching on gifts of the Spirit
Each believer given a manifestation of the H.S. in the form of a spiritual gift. Given to glorify God and serve others and build up the church. 1 Corinthians 12:7 - a demonstration of the Spirit is given to each person to produce what is beneficial 1 Peter 4:10 - based on the gift each one has received, use it to serve others, as good managers of the varied grace of God. Build up the church - Ephesians 4:11-13 - He gave some to be apostles, prophets and so on for the training of the saints in the work of ministry to build up body of Christ.

The Person of the H.S./How is the personal nature of the H.S. demonstrated in the New Testament?
Empowering work of H.S. in the N.T. - Acts 1:8 - you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Anointing of Jesus at his baptism - Matt. 3:16 Jesus entered into being tempted full of the H.S. - Luke 4:1 - Jesus was full of the H.S. and led by the Spirit in the wilderness for 40 days H.S. empowered Stephen - Acts 6:5 - Stephen man full of faith and H.S.

Fruit - a result of growing in Christ. Gal. 5 Gifts - specific qualities/gift bestowed on a believer by H.S. with nothing done by us. 1 Cor. 12 mention some.

Fulfill Great Commission. Plant new churches overseas that are fully functioning, run by nationals and in turn, plant new churches.
Alliance Church Government/In what way is the local church subordinate to General Council and District Conference?
GC and DC are the constituted authority over the local church body. Business and policies enacted at both DC and GC are to be implemented in the local church body.

Galatians 5 - fruit of the Spirit 1 Corinthians 13 - love Romans 12:1-2 - transformation
The Person of the H.S./What does the Scripture teach concerning the baptism of the H.S. and the filling of the H.S.?
Given the H.S. as a deposit at salvation. Baptism is the initial work that occurs in the life of a believer when they encounter Christ. Eph. 1:13-14 = When you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and when you believed in Him, you were also sealed with the promised H.S. He is the down payment of our inheritance, for the redemption of the possession. to the praise of His glory. Acts. 2:38-39 - Repent and be baptized, each of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the H.S. The filling of the H.S. aids us in the continual work of transformation in our Christian walk. Ephesians 5:18 - Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Romans 8:9 - You, however, are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, since the Spirit of God lives in you. Gal. 5:25 - Since we live by the Spirit, we must also follow the Spirit.
The Person of God/What is your belief concerning God, creationism, and evolution?
God created the heavens and earth. Not sure about literal 6 day creation but God created. No macro-evolution or transition of species outside it's kind. Only adaptation within species.
Constituted Authority/What difference is there in being led by the Spirit and being subject to recognized authority in the church?
God does not contradict Himself. If God tells us to submit to authority then He wouldn't tell us not to do so on a different occasion. 1 Corinthians 14:33 - God is not a God of confusion. 1 John 4:1-2 ~ Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,

It is able to judge the ideas and thoughts of the heart.

The Person of Christ/Why are both natures essential to the person of Christ?
His humanity makes him relatable to us. His divinity provides a way for us to relate to God. Without his divinity there would be no sacrifice.
Constituted Authority/If you should become personally involved in doctrines contrary to the "Statement of Faith" of The Christian & Missionary Alliance, what would you do?
I would resign
Alliance Church Government/If the majority of your governing board desired your resignation and you felt otherwise, what would you do?
I would resign as it's not my desire to cause division and distress to the church.
Atonement/Is there any limitation concerning who may benefit from the atonement of Christ?
In sufficiency or inclusion, no. John 3:16 - the whole world In efficiency or exclusiveness, yes. Romans 10:9 - If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
The Return of the Lord/How will the second coming of Christ differ from His first coming?
It will be loud and visible. Matthew 24:30 - will appear to all people in the sky. 1 Corinthians 15:51-52 - last trumpet will sound 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 - The Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the archangel's voice, and with the trumpet of God...

It has all the wisdom and truth we need for life. It is the measuring stick we should judge our practice and doctrine on. 2 Timothy 3:16-18 - correcting, teaching, training Hebrews 4:12 - the word of God, living and effective, sharper than a two-edged sword. Romans 15:4 - Whatever was written in past is for our instruction so we have hope through encouragement of Scriptures.
Resurrection/How important is the doctrine of the resurrection to the Christian faith?
It's vital. With no resurrection there is no faith and no resurrection for us. 1 Corinthians 15:14 - If Christ has not been raised, then our proclamation is without foundation, and so is your faith.

Jesus is the chief shepherd and the pastor is the undershepherd and caretaker of the flock. John 10 - as under-shepherds, the pastor protects and leads the flock, cares for them, feeds them. Jesus is our example in this.

Justification deals with the sin - the process by which we are declared righteous. They are justified freely by His grace.. Regeneration deals with the condition of the sinner - the process by which we are born anew and become new creations in Christ. Sanctification/What is the relationship between justification and sanctification?
Justification is a legal term which changes our standing before God. Romans 5:1 - Therefore, since we have been declared righteous by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Sanctification - process where we are set apart and made holy. 1 Corinthians 6:11 - You were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

Let the DS know of your intent and ask him to release your resume to other churches.
Atonement/Give a brief explanation of Scripture on the atonement
Leviticus 16 - God established a permanent once a year statute of atonement to cleanse the Israelites from all their sins. In the N.T. Jesus becomes the substitutionary sacrifice for man's sin. 1 John 2:2 ~ He Himself is the propitiation for our sins and not only for ours, but also for the those of the whole world. Romans 3:25 - God presented Jesus as a propitiation through faith in His blood, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His restraint God passed over the sins previously committed.
The Person of the H.S./What qualities and ministries, possible only for a person, are attributed to the Holy Spirit?
Love - Romans 15:30 - "I appeal to you, brothers, through our Lord Jesus Christ and through the love of the Spirit..." Teaches - John 14:26 - The Counselor, the Holy Spirit will teach you all things... He can be lied to - Acts 5 - Ananias & Sapphira He can be grieved or cause to have sorrow - Ephesians 4:30 - Don't grieve God's Holy Spirit. He convicts of sin - John 16:7-11

Luke 2 - I was in my Father's house John 17 - "Glorify me with the glory I had with you before the world existed." Luke 5 - paralyzed man. Jesus tells him that He has the authority to forgive sins
Atonement/What aspects of man's condition made the atonement necessary?
Man is depraved and has a corrupt and sinful nature. As a result he cannot approach God. Romans 3:10-12 - There is no one righteous, not even one. There is no one who understands; there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away; all alike have become useless. There is no one who does what is good, not even one. Romans 3:23~ For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. We are under a curse. Galatians 3:10- For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse. There is penalty or punishment necessary for sin. Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death.
Doctrine of the Church/What is the Scriptural procedure for church discipline?
Matthew 18 - go and rebuke in private. If he doesn't listen, bring one or two more. If he still doesn't listen bring it before the church and then treat him as an unbeliever. Galatians 6:1 - restore the one caught in wrongdoing gently

Matthew 8 tells us that Jesus healing ministry was a fulfillment of the prophecy found in Isaiah. There is healing in the atonement. Isaiah 53:4-8 ~ Yet He Himself bore our sicknesses, and carried our pains; but we in turn regarded Him as stricken, struck down by God, and afflicted. But He was pierced for our transgressions, crushed because of our iniquities; punishment for our peace was on Him, and we are healed by His wounds.
Healing/How would you counsel a believer who has followed the instructions of James 5 and is still seeking a miraculous healing?
Miraculous healing may occur though it may not be on this side of heaven. Sometimes God wants us to walk through an affliction so that we can draw closer to Him, trust Him, learn to rely on Him for all our needs. There may be times healing doesn't occur because of unrepentant sin. 2 Corinthians 12:9-11 - But He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." Therefore, I will most gladly boast all the more about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may reside in me. So I take pleasure in weaknesses, insults, catastrophes, persecutions, and in pressures, because of Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Healing/What is the difference between miraculous healing and divine life for the believer?
Miraculous healing may or may not occur on this side of heaven. But divine life is available to all believers regardless of physical healing. 2 Peter 1:3-8 ~ His divine power has given us everything required for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness...

Missions time in AW group, monthly missions moment in church, ladies from our church attend the district AW retreats where they hear and pray for our IWs.

Atonement/Could anyone other than Christ have made an acceptable offering?
No, he is the perfect sacrificial lamb 1 Peter 1:18-21 - Redeemed from your empty way of life...by the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without defect or blemish. He was chosen before the foundation of the world...
Atonement/Is the atonement effective in human lives where the gospel is unknown
No, it's not. That's why it's important as The Alliance believes to preach to the ends of the earth. Romans 10:14 - How can they call on Him they have not believed in? And how can they believe without hearing about Him? And how can they hear without a preacher? And how can they rpeach unless they are sent?
Lostness/Is there any possibility of salvation after death?
No, there is not. Hebrews 9:27 - "And just as it is appointed for people to die once--and after this, judgment..."
Healing/How is the problem of sin related to the problem of sickness?
Sin is related to the fall as sin and death entered the world through the fall of Adam. Sometimes sickness can be a result of unconfessed sin. Romans 5:12 - Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, in this way death spread to all men, because all sinned.
The Person of the H.S./How is the personal nature of the H.S. demonstrated in the Old Testament?
Old Test. - the H.S. frequently empowered people for special service Joshua with leadership skills and wisdom - Numbers 27:18 - "Take Joshua, son of Nun, a man who has the Spirit in him, and lay your hands on him." Aroused Saul to battle - 1 Sam. 11:6 - When Saul heard these words the Spirit of God suddenly took control of him, and his anger burned furiously. Ezekiel - Ezekiel 2:2; 3:24 - the Spirit entered me and set me on my feet, and I listened to the One who was speaking to me.

Our sins are erased and we are made new creations in Christ. 2 Corinthians 5:17 - If anyone is in Christ he is a new creation. Ephesians 2:5 - God made us alive with the Messiah even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace!
Sanctification/What is meant by positional sanctification and progressive sanctification, and how is "crisis" connected to the two?
Positional sanctification is our ability to stand before God in righteousness because of faith in Jesus Christ. (Jesus does the work) Progressive sanctification is the work I do to follow Christ. (I do the work by making choices). The crisis point is coming to the end of myself and realizing I cannot do anything without more of Christ. Galatians 5:16-18 - walk by the Spirit and you will not carry out the desires of the flesh..." Philippians 2:12-13 - work out your own salvation, with fear and trembling. For it is God who is working in you, enabling you both to desire and to work out His good purpose.
The Return of the Lord/Describe the basic tribulation positions and what is your position?
Pre-trib rapture - church removed before tribulation Mid trib - Church removed after a time of tribulation Post-trib - church removed after tribulation My view is post tribulation. Matthew 24 - they will hand you over for persecution and they will kill you. The one who endures to the end will be delivered. Those days will be limited because of the elect.

Premillenialism - Christ returns in bodily form, there is a literal interpretation of Revelation 20, literal 1,000 year reign of Christ Postmillennialism - Christ returns following millennium. World gets better and better, followed by 1,000 year period of peace. Then Christ returns in bodily form. Amillenialism no literal millennial reign. We are in the church age now. 1,000 years if figurative. Rev. 20:1-6 is happening now.

Sanctification/What is the relationship between regeneration and sanctification?
Regeneration is the rebirth and renewal of human nature. It's has to birth and happens once. Sanctification process of being set apart to become more like God and used by Him. It has to do with growth and is ongoing. Romans 6:11-12 ~ Consider yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, so that you obey its righteousness.

The Holy Spirit. Titus 3:5 - He saved us - not by works of righteousness that we had done, but according to His mercy - through the washing of regeneration and renewal by the H.S.

Sanctification - set apart and made holy. Process by which God restores man back into His image. Hebrews 10:14 - by one offering He has perfected forever those who are sanctified.

Healing/How is the problem of sin related to the problem of sickness?
Sin is related to the fall as sin and death entered the world through the fall of Adam. Romans 5:12 - Therefore just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, in this way death spread to all men, because all sinned. Sometimes sickness can be related to unconfessed sin in our lives.

Teach on it but haven't had an interest from anyone in going. Desire to organize a short term missions trip.

The Bible is free from error as "originally written" It communicates all truth about God, the world and man. It can be trusted. 2 Timothy 3:16 None of the changes that do occur impact doctrine. Only 3% textual changes.

Universal church is made up of followers of Christ from all denominations and includes past, present and future? Local church is a body of believers who are joined together to carry out the mission.

Unwavering belief that God can heal. Example is the centurion's faith as witnessed in Matthew 8:5-13.

Very important as it helps our congregation see and hear from IWs. Helps to promote the GCF and it gets our people praying for missionaries.

We are no longer in bondage to sin but are able to choose the things of God. Romans 6:11 - Consider yourselves dead to sin, but alive to God. Galatians 2:19-20 - I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me.

We are not to add to, or take away from God's word. Deuteronomy 4:2 - Don't add to or take away from the commands. Revelation 22:18-19 - those who add to words of prophecy will suffer plagues. Those who take away from the words of this prophecy will have their share in the tree of life removed.

Yes, I do. All 4 gospels show the resurrection as a bodily one. He appeared to His disciples and others multiple times. He ascended bodily into heaven in Matthew 28.

Yes, I do. Because He said He was! John 13:13 - "You have called me Teacher and Lord and rightly so because that is what I am." Acts 2:36 - God has made this Jesus both Lord and Christ

Yes, it is literal. Lake of fire as found in Revelation 20:14 Eternal fire - Matthew 25:41 - Depart from Me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the Devil and His angels. In torment - Story of rich man in Hades - Luke 16
