Daughter of the headmaster of Pencey. Mainly only girl that comes to the football games other than the girls the seniors are allowed to take

Maurice

Elevator operator at the hotel Holden stays at. Earns extra money with the prostitute, Sunny by asking for five more than agreed upon - if they don't hand it over Maurice roughs em up .

Sally Hayes

Holden wants to decorated her Christmas tree with her. (need to add)

DB

Holden's brother. Lives in Hollywood as a "prostitute of a writer" according to Holden. Holden doesn't like how DB's writing has changed

Horwitz, the cab driver

Holden's favorite of the cab drivers. Takes Holden to Ernie's. Says the ducks prob just stay in the lagoon and that the fish freeze in the same place all winter and get nutrients from their gills through the ice

Mr. Spencer

Holden's history teacher at Pencey Prep. Unsuccessfully tries to get Holden to start taking school more seriously.

Ackley

Holden's next door roommate at Pencey. Annoys the hell out of Holden - moving things around the room. On the night of the fight with Stradlater, Holden wakes up Ackley in the middle of the night out of loneliness

Jane Gallagher

Holden's obsession. "Perfect" person. Met on vacation in Maine. Bad at golf. Holden suggests he should go and say hello to her (3x) but never does. He didn't want to see if she changed into one of Stradlater's "slutty pigs" Never moves her kings in checkers

Stradlater

Holden's roommate who goes on a date with Jane. Beats up Holden when he says that he's a moron. He doesn't tell Holden if he did it with Jane or not.

Phoebe

Holden's sister. "Perfect" person. Holden is scared that she will grow up and change. Thinks of calling her when in NY multiple times but doesn't. Intelligent, neat, good dancer. Most trusted link to the family

Allie

Holden's younger brother who he wrote the essay about (baseball glove/poems) Allie's death (leukemia) caused pain to Holden - punched out windows. Allie is one of the "Perfect" people in Holden's eyes. Brilliant, friendly, red-headed."Smartest of the Caulfields"

Jim Steele

Name used with the girls from Seattle and with the hooker, Sunny

Mr. Haas

President at Elkton. He only talked with the rich parents

Mr. Ossenburger

The wealthy alum who's speech was interupted by Edgar's fart. Holden's dorm wing is named after him

Edwin Marsala

boy who let out a fart in the chapel during Ossenburger's speech. When asked to do it again later he says "I don't feel like it"

Faith Cavendish

girl who Holden called late at night when lonely in the hotel. He had her number from Eddie Birdsell (Princeton guy). She is always down for a "good time"

Hazle Weatherfield

he "orphan girl" detective in Phoebe's little stories. Ironic because she has a father who she sometime sees just like Phoebe

Ernest Morrow

jerk form Pencey whom Holden lies that he's great guy to his mother. Whips people with his wet towel walking down hall from the shower

Mrs. Morrow

mother of Holden's despicable classmate Ernest who he shares a train ride with. Holden uses the name "Rudolph Schmidt" for his conversation. Schmidt is the Pencey janitor

Ed Banky

the basketball coach at Pencey who loans his car out to Stradlater for dates

the history professor's wife who is known for her kindness and hot chocolate.

very odd prostitute. Worst curse - "like fun." Holden doesn't wan to have sex with her, just somebody to talk with but she doesn't want to. Refuses cigarettes. Asks Holden to hang up her "brand new" dress. Makes him feel depressed
