The Conclusion
- drive your ideas home - final impression - the conclusion is the climax of the speech
Getting Attention and Interest
- relate the topic to the audience - state the importance of the topic - startle the audience = must relate directly to the subject of the speech - arouse the curiosity of the audience - question the audience - being with a quotation - tell a story (referring to the occasion, audience participation, using audio equipment or visuals, relating to the previous speaker, humor)
Reinforce the Central Idea
- summarize your speech: restating the main points; restates the central idea and main points - ending with a quote: quote has to relate to the central idea - make a dramatic statement - refer to the introduction
