-Sacrament consists of: sign of the cross, the word of God, Exorcisms and profession of faith, blessing of the water, essential rite of baptism, anointing with sacred chrism, receiving/clothing in a white garment,and receiving of a lit candle -Form: I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. -Matter: the pouring of water on the person's head.
Name and briefly explain the four steps of the catechumenate process
1). Precatechumenate: the person who wants to receive the sacrament, is introduced to the faith and want to be a part of it. 2). Catechumenate: the person learns and is instructed in the faith. 3). Purification, enlightenment, or illumination: period of recollection 4). Mystagogia: he/she learns a deeper understanding and meaning of the faith.

BAPTISM OF BLOOD: belief that martyrs receive forgiveness for their sins BAPTISM OF DESIRE: belief that catechumens who die before receiving Baptism receive forgiveness of their sins.

Chrism is holy oil, its used after baptism on the newly baptized persons head

Death, concupiscience, alienation from God, and separation from God
What are the theological virtues? What does each one enable us to do?
Faith, hope, and love/charity. Faith enables us to believe in God. Hope enables us to seize the Kingdom of God, to seek God as the source of our happiness. Love/ charity enables us to follow the new commandment of God which is to, "love your neighbor as you love yourself".

It symbolizes Christ's death.
Explain why the Church teaches that Baptism is given only once. What bond does Baptism give you with other Catholics and other baptized Christians?
It's given only once since it's a permanent seal. It gives us a bond with everyone who is Baptized. We are all adopted sons and daughters of God. It doesn't matter if they're Christians or not.
What does it mean to say that God "is not bound by his sacraments"?
It's not bound by the sacraments, because of the baptism of blood and desire
Did Jesus need to be baptized? Why or why not?
No because he was already without sin

No. Baptism only gives you the graces necessary to enter the kingdom of heaven.

The Western Church allows you to be baptized as a child and receive Eucharist when you know your faith. The Eastern Church allows you to have the sacraments of Initiation be done all at once.

The word baptism can be traced to the Greek word baptismos, meaning "ceremonial washing." This cleansing rite typically takes place when you're a child and is often seen as an initiation into the church.
Why does the Catholic Church baptize infants as well as adults?
They need to be washed from original sin. Even before they commit personal sin.
Explain the connection between Baptism and the Paschal Mystery
When we are immersed in water, we are actually participating in his death. When we rise from the water we are participating in his life. Our old life dies with Christ.
Is the seal of eternal life granted at Baptism permanent? Why yes or why no?
Yes because is is apart of echumisism. It is a permanent mark on our soul marked by Jesus. To ensure life eternal life in heaven however we must "keep the seal" and remain faithful until the end.
