- Apps must be tested and approved before being sold in the App store - Better assurance of high quality apps - Centralized app purchasing

IOS Apps

- Are only available through the App Store - Other developers can write apps for the iPhone or iPad, but these apps must be sent to Apple for close security

Windows Mobile Apps

- Availability of apps are more limited than what can be found for Android or iOS - Obtained through Microsoft Store app - Apps can be obtained from third-party websites via the browser on the mobile device

Android OS by Google

Bluetooth

- Is a short-range wireless technology to connect two devices in a small PAN - Devices must be paired

Windows Mobile by Microsoft

Infrared (IR)

- Is a wireless connection that requires an unobstructed "line of sight" between the transmitter and receiver within 30 m of each other
