Theme
A collection of design choices that includes colors, fonts, and special effects used to give a consistent look to a document, workbook, database, form or report or presentation
Linked Object
A connection from the presentation to another location such as a storage device or web site
Placeholder
A container that holds text, images, graphs, videos, or other objects to be used in the presentation
Smart Art
A diagram that presents information visually to effectively communicate a message
Shape
A geometric or non-geometric object, such as a rectangle or an arrow used to create an illustration or highlight information
Connector
A lines shape that is attached to and moves with other shapes
Compression
A method applied to data to reduce the amount of space required for file storage
Outline
A method of organizing text in a hierarchy to depict relationships
Thumbnail
A miniature view of a slide that appears in the slides tab and slide sort view
Animation
A movement that controls the entrance, emphasis, exit, and/or path of objects in a slide show.
Selection net
A pane designed to help select objects from a listing of all objects on a slide
Text Pane
A pane for text entry used for a smart art diagram
Template
A predesigned file that incorporates formatting elements such as them and layouts, and may include content that can be modified
Photo Album
A presentation containing multiple pictures organized into album pages
Grid
A set of intersecting lines use to align objects
Presenter View
A specialty view that delivers a presentation on two monitors simultaneously
Transition
A specific animation that is applied as a previous slide is replaced by a new slide while displayed in slide show view or reading view
Reading View
A view that displays the slide show full screen, one slide at a time, complete with animation and transitions
Slide Sorter View
A view that displays thumbnails of presentation slides, which allows you to view multiple slides simultaneously
Notes Page View
A view used for entering and editing large amounts of text to which the speaker can refer when presenting
Slide Show View
A view used to deliver the completed presentation full screen to an audience one slide at a time, as an electronic presentation
Storyboard
A visual plan of a presentation that displays the content of each slide in the slide show
Annotation
A written note or drawing on a slide for additional commentary or explanation
Grouping
Allows you to summarize your data by the values of a field
Flow Chart
An illustration showing the sequence of a project or plan containing steps
Bitmap Images
An image created by bits or pixels placed on a grid to form a picture
Text Box
An object that provides spaces for text and graphics it can be formatted with a border, shading, and other characteristics
PowerPoint Show
An unchangeable electronic slide show format used for distribution
Softening
Blurs the edges of the content in a picture to make the boundaries less prominent
Layout
Determines the position of the objects or content on a slide
Collapsed Outline
Displays only the slide number, icon, and title of each slide in Outline view
Expanded Outline
Displays the slide number, icon, title, and content of each slide in Outline view
Sharpening
Enhances the edges of the content in a picture to make the boundaries more prominent
Hierarchy
Indicates levels of importance in a structure
Footer
Information that generally displays at the bottom of a document page, worksheet, slide, or database report
Header
Information that generally displays at the top of a document page, worksheet, slide, or database report
Texture fill
Inserts a texture such as canvas, denim, marble, or cork into a shape
Multimedia
Multiple forms of media used to entertain or inform an audience
Outline View
Show the presentation in an outline format displayed in levels according to the points an any sub points on each side
Narration
Spoken commentary that is added to a presentation
Plain Text Format
That retains only text but no formatting when you transfer documents between applications or platforms
Normal View
The default view of a document, worksheet, or presentation.
Contrast
The difference between the darkest and lightest areas of a picture
Poster Frame
The frame that displays on a slide when a video is not playing
Saturation
The intensity of a color
Fill
The interior contents of a shape
Copyright
The legal protection afforded to a written or artistic work
Brightness
The lightness or darkness of a picture
Stacking Order
The order of objects placed on top of one another
Vertex
The point where a curve ends or the point where two line segments meet in a shape
Foreground
The portion of the picture that is kept when removing the background of a picture
Cropping
The process of reducing an image size by eliminating unwanted portions of an image or other graphical objects
Tone
The temperature of a color
Slide Master
The top slide in a hierarchy of slides based on the master
Align
To arrange in a line to be parallel with other objects or in relation to the slide
Ungroup
To break a combined grouped object into individual objects
Distribute
To divide or evenly spread selected shapes over a given area
Rotate
To move an object around its axis
Embed
To store an object from an external source within a presentation
Embedded Object
To store and object from an external source within a presentation
