Conflict Issues
Two users may try and change the contents of a cell at the same time Conflict Resolution dialog box opens for second users, change is based on settings selected
Comment
a notation attached to a cell to pose a question or provide commentary Comment indicator: colored Red triangle in the top right corner of a cell Can edit, delete, show, hide a comment, can print on another page
Document Property
an attribute that describes a file (Author's name, title, subject, creation data, keywords, revision data, company)
Set the User Name
can be used to identify who authored or edited this workbook
Customize the Ribbon
can create new tabs and groups, add/remove commands, and reset the ribbon Use the feature when you use particular commands frequently
Customizable Excel Options
color scheme, formula rules, automatic corrections, autocomplete rules, items display on screen
Compare and Merge
combines shared wbs into one wb so you can decide what changes to keep --> only works with copies of a shared workbook Changes are indicated by different color borders and top left triangles representing different users who made the changes to the shared workbook (workbookname-lastnameuseer)
Mark as Final
communicates that it is a final version and makes the file read-only
Quick Access Toolbar
contains three commands: Save, Undo, Redo --> can customize with frequently used commands
Compatibility Checker
detects data and features that are not compatible with previous versions of Excel
Document Inspector
detects hidden and personal data in a workbook for removal
Accessibility Inspector
detects issues that could hinder a disabled person's ability to use a workbook
Network Permissions
determines who has rights to open and modify files Owner, Read-Only
General Tab
displays file name, type, location, size, creation/modification/last accessed date
Properties Dialog Box
displays more than just property list General Tab, Summary, Statistics, Contents, Custom Tab
Summary
displays properties the user can enter and change such as title, subject, author, manager, company, category, keywords and comments
Contents
displays the worksheet names contained in the workbook
History Worksheet
does not track font changes or hiding/unhiding columns or rows
Digital Signature
electronic, encrypted notation that stamps a document to authenticate the contents, confirms that a particular person authorized it, marks the workbook as final obtain it from a certified authority
Custom tab
enables the user to create and maintain custom properties for the current workbook, such as Department, Project, and Purpose.
Document Panel
enables you to enter the author, title, subject, keywords, category, status, and comment properties while working on the workbook
Shared Workbooks
files that enable multiple users to make changes at the same time and allows everyone to see the changes made can see the current users who have it opened
Excel Options Dialog Box
permits you to change a variety of settings contained in the options category: general, formulas, proofing, save, language
Owner
person who created workbook and designates it as shared, controls user access and resolves conflicts
Workbook Information
preparing the workbook for sharing and protecting the workbook Remove your fingerprints from the file (important when distributing the workbook)
Signature Line
similar to a signature line in a printed document, such as a contract or legal document
Feedback
takes form of Error: difficult for disabled to view Warning: difficult to understand Tip: understandable, but can be presented or organized better
Non-Shareable
-only one person can work on the workbook at the same time -Second person receives File in Use notice
Network Issues
Last person to make changes decides which changes to accept --> can be issue if least knowledgeable person is last one to make changes
Change Tracking
Records certain types of changes made in a workbook, NOT ALL
Statistics
includes creation, modified, accessed and printed dates
Protection
includes marking workbook as final, encrypt workbook with a password, add digital signature, add signature line
Metadata
pieces of data that describe other data
Collaboration
when multiple people work together to achieve a common goal by using technology to edit the contents of a file Tools: share, compare and merge, comments, track changes
