Binder

Assist the patient's swallowing of the tablet; improves the flavor of the tablet; protects the stomach lining from the drug's side affect; delays the release of the medication once it has been consumed. Example Saccharine

Lubricating agent

Gives the tablet a sheen,aids in the manufacturing process. Example: talc

Disintegrant

Help breaks up the ingredients once the tablet has been consumed. Example: starch

Solubilizer

Maintains the ingredients in solution; helps the ingredients pass into solution in the body. Example: cyclodextrin

Ingredient

Promotes adhesion of the materials in the tablet. Example:methylcellulose

Coloring

Provide tablet identification and elegance. Example: FDA- approved coloring agents and dyes
