What were the symptoms of the Black Death?
Fever, vomiting, fierce coughing, sneezing, and swelling or bumps on the skin called buboes.
How did the political events like the Magna Carta, Henry II's legal reforms and the Model Parliament lead to the decline of Feudalism?
-They strengthen the royal authority of the king and weakened the nobles power. It also established the idea that common people should have rights and liberties and a voice in government.
Why was the plague called the Black Death?
Because people had black and blue swellings (called buboes) that appeared on the skin.
Why were the English able to defeat the French in early battles?
Because they used longbows which flew further, faster and more accurately.

Henry said that a jury had to accuse a person of a crime. You would no longer go to jail or be executed without a legal cause. There also had to be court trials. These reforms strengthen the role of law and judges and weakened the power of the lords.

It came along trade routes through the silk road and was carried on a ship to Italy where it spread through Europe and England.

It established the idea that people have rights and liberties that even monarchs cannot take away. It said that the king should rule with the advice of the people.

It shifted power from Lords to monarchs and common people because monarchs had to raise army's and no longer had to rely on the nobles supplying them with knights. It also led to a feeling of nationalism they didn't have before.

It was a governing body of commoners, lower-rank clergy, and high level church officials and nobles. It was created as a way to include more people in the government (instead of just the king).

It was spread by flees on rats. When the rats died, the fleas would jump off and bite people. It was also spread because of the dirty conditions of homes and streets filled with waste, dead animals and trash.
Who was Joan of Arc and what did she do for the French during the Hundred Years' War?
She was a 17 year old peasant girl that said she heard the voice of a saint that urged her to save France. She led the French army to victory in the Battle of Orleans.
How did the Bubonic Plague lead to the decline of Feudalism?
So many people died (about 1/3 of Europe's population) which led to a need for workers. Serfs could leave the land and move to towns to seek jobs. This led to the weakening of the manor system and the loss of the noble's power.
