Different Types of Yoga
Shavasana
Corpse Pose.' Laying flat on the back. Arms resting by your thighs. Eyes closed. Most often used for relaxation at the end of a session.
Hatha Yoga
Hatha means 'force.' The means of attaining a state of yoga through force. For every different level of consciousness or mental and emotional situation that you go through, your body naturally tends to take certain postures. If you consciously get your body into different postures (force), you can also elevate your consciousness.
Yin Yoga
In yin yoga, you hold each pose for 3 to 10 minutes, allowing the deeper, less flexible tissues in your body the time to stretch. Rather than strengthening your muscles, as other forms of yoga do, yin yoga is more likely to improve your overall flexibility and range of motion. The main difference between yin yoga and other types of yoga practice is the amount of time you hold each asana.

Restorative Yoga is the practice of asanas, each held for longer than in conventional yoga. Restorative yoga is a type of yoga known for its relaxing, calming and healing effect. Ideal for those recovering from illnesses or injuries. For Restorative yoga, the intention is to relax as far as possible into the postures, using as little physical effort as possible. Restorative yoga is considered an ideal balance to hectic and stressful modern lifestyles.
Vinyasa Yoga
Vinyasa means linking movement with breath. A vinyasa is a smooth transition between asanas. A creative form of yoga where poses are linked together with the breath in a flowing sequence. It is a style that can greatly vary in how it is practiced.
Nidra Yoga
Yoga Nidra is a form of guided meditation also known as "effortless relaxation". A state of consciousness between waking and sleeping, typically induced by a guided meditation. In this state, the body and mind rest and the consciousness is awake. Very little movement of the body. Shavasana's are EXTREMELY common.
Iyengar Yoga
is a form of yoga as exercise that has an emphasis on detail, precision and alignment in the performance of yoga postures. Often involves the use of props such as blocks, blankets, and belts. Can be a popular style for beginners as using the props help people new to the practice form good habits.
