Earth Science
Two reason's why the sun's mass is designed for life on earth.
1. Its surface temperature controls the wavelengths of visible light that it radiates. these wavelengths have just enough energy to drive photosynthesis on Earth. 2. The earth orbits toward the inner edge of the sun's habitability zone. If the earth were any closer, it would be too hot for liquid water.
List three properties of the earths' atmosphere that make it important for life.
1. Of all the planets only earth is transparent because it is made up of gases that are colorless and clear. 2. Earth's atmosphere offers protection to it inhabitants. 3. The atmosphere is also a physical shield for bombs for bombs from space - meteors and comets.
Give two reasons why the earths' mass is designed for life.
1. The earth's 3 billion trillion metric tons of mass produces just the right amount of gravity at its surface. 2.Strong gravity would be a problem for flying creatures. 3. Too little gravity affects living organisms by producing weaker bones and muscles.
How does Earths position in the solar system protect life?
Earth is tucked in relatively close to the sun. Five planets, including the four massive "gas giants," Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, lie much farther out.
What is the relationship between the design of the earth, its moon, and the sun, with the living things that inhabit the earth?
Every aspect of Earth's physical structure is linked to God's design of living things. The immensity and precision of this grand system reminds us that God is great and good.
Why is Earths' magnetic field critical for life?
If it were not for the magnetic field, dangerous energetic radiation particles from space could reach its surface, harming or killing living things.
Why does Earth's position in the Milky Way galaxy help protect life?
It is located about halfway to the rim of the galaxy from its center, well away from the deadly activity there. We are also between two main spiral arms of the galaxy; there are relatively few stars nearby that could be a danger to us if they exploded.
What special properties of water on the earth are designed for life?
Liquid water. No other planet has liquid water on its surface. Water dissolves and transports nutrients that living things need to function. It has a much greater ability to absorb heat than similar liquids.
Earth's special features and position in the universe give strong evidence that it was specially created.
True !!!!!!! :-).
How does Earth's design help us learn about God by observing the vastness of what He's created?
We are reminded that we are small creatures in a very big world. Looking at the earth and the heavens from the perspective of Scripture, we see that we play an important, central role.
Explain how the tilt of the earth's rotation axis is designed for life on Earth.
With the tilt axis, the earth's surface is heated more evenly by the sun. The earth's orbit is a nearly circular ellipse, and lies in a plane. The sun is near the orbits center. The earth itself spins on its own axis.
