-3-5% solution -Low pressure and rate of flow -Restricted cervical injection -Inject head first

Treating Edema with Mechanical Aids

-Elevation -Channeling in the neck -Channeling under inguinal ligaments -External pressure -Wicking post embalming

Post Embalming

-Inspect thoroughly for leaking areas -Address any leakage -Seal incisions with glue -Plastic garments -Absorbent powder

Treating Edema with Fluids

-Large volume of mild arterial solution -Astringent -Co-injection fluids -Epsom salts

Intercellular Edema

-Pitting -Fluid is between the cells -Imprints of fingerprints remain -Responds well to embalming treatments -Can be removed by drainage

Treating Dependent/Partial Edema

-Sectional embalming -Hypodermic embalming

Cellular Edema

-Solid -Fluid is retained within individual cells -Swollen, firm tissues -No indentations -Often seen in facial tissues -Does NOT respond to embalming treatments well
