Four valves of the heart
Bicuspid or Mitral
- located between the Left Artium and Left Ventricle - opens to allow blood to pass from the left atrium to the left ventricle -atrioventricular valve
Tricuspid
- located between the Right Artium and Right Ventricle - opens to allow blood to flow from the right atrium to the right ventricle -atrioventricular valve
Aortic
- located between the left ventricle and aorta - opens to allow blood to leave the heart (from the left ventricle to the aorta and on to the body) -semilunar valve
Pulmonary
- located between the right ventricle and the pulmonary artery - opens to allow blood to be pumped from the heart to the lungs (through the pulmonary artery) where it will receive oxygen - semilunar valve
