What end is foreshadowed for Clerval?

Clerval is seen appreciating the nature around him as he travels with Victor and even states how he loves his existence.This is similar to Victor's love of nature and science when he was younger. Thus, he mourns for the old Clerval when he really means his old self.

What does Elizabeth believe is the cause of Victor's unhappiness? What does she offer to do?

Elizabeth feels Victor's unhappiness is caused by his soon to be marriage with her. She feels that he may have fallen in love with another woman and she would gladly leave him if it made him happy.

He asks his father if he can go to England for a mental vacation. His real reason is to find a desolate area to study up on how to create a female monster and to build her in an area where she cannot cause destruction.

He claims Frankenstein is his last victim because he feels there's no reason for him to be upset anymore. If his creator is dead, he should die too. Walton calls him a hypocrite because he killed so many people and showed no remorse at the time.

He denies her request and tells her she is the source of his happiness. He says he will reveal his terrible secret to his depression after they are married.

Victor cleans his area of his chemical tools and his dead creation to find a place to hide. He throws the monster's remains in the water, but realizes he rowed out too far and would have a hard time getting back to shore.

Victor and Henry get invited by one of Victor's friends in Scotland to see more of the country. Victor decides to do because he thinks it might make him happy.

Victor believed the monster meant that he would murder Victor on his wedding night. The monster really meant that he would murder Elizabeth.

Victor devotes all his time to building his female monster. He has gone mad with anxiety and fear that he won't finish it fast enough for the monster's tastes.

Victor encourages Elizabeth to go to bed for the night. He is waiting for his monster to appear to kill him. However, he soon hears Elizabeth's screams and realizes the monster was out to kill her instead of him.

Victor envisions the possibility of the female monster being more dangerous than the first or even the male monster not approving his mate. Or even that they would despise each other. Or even have monster children.

Victor fears his monster's impatience and its wrath if he didn't finish the mate soon enough. He abandons Clerval to work on the female monster immediately.

Victor has been charged to build a female monster to be his monster's mate. He is reluctant to do it because he doesn't fully trust his monster yet and fears his actions. He also realizes that in order to create a female monster, several months of studying is needed in London.

Victor is afraid the monster will kill him on the night of his wedding with Elizabeth. He knows Elizabeth wouldn't be able to handle his death and that scares him.

Victor returns to Geneva to convince to the magistrate that Elizabeth's death wasn't his fault but the monster's. The magistrate doesn't believe him. Victor's father dies three days of later of shock after hearing of Elizabeth's death.

Victor sees an image of his former self in Clerval. Like Victor used to be, Clerval is so vibrant and excited as he is finally able to pursue his research. Victor was the same way until he made the mistake of making his monster.

Victor tells his father that all of their deaths and pain are his fault. His father thinks he is still delirious from his depression.

Victor was imprisoned because he was found guilty of Elizabeth's murder. Victor pleads to the magistrate for help in destroying the monster but he denies him. He is appalled at his rage.

Victor's father arranges for Henry Clerval to accompany Victor. Victor is pleased by this because he gets to see his friend again and that his cheerfulness could possibly rub off on him. However, he is also a bit upset because he wanted to start on his monster's mate right away and get it over with, but Clerval is in the way.

What does Victor's father propose happen in order to cheer Victor up? Why is Victor not cheered by this prospect?

Victor's father proposes that Victor would possibly cheer up if he marries Elizabeth immediately. Victor doesn't feel he can marry Elizabeth until his nightmare with his monster is over.

Victor's last moments of happiness were his wedding with Elizabeth and the parties that followed afterward leading to their honeymoon trip.

Victor's single reason for living is now to destroy his monster. The creature haunts over Victor's mind and tortures with a cruel "scavenger hunt" with vague clues to find him in the snow.

Walton finds the monster crying over Frankenstein's death. The monster felt agony when killing Clerval. He was prompted to kill Elizabeth after seeing Frankenstein kill his mate.

When Victor sees his monster, he grows angry and tears the monster's mate in half. The monster growls and threatens to "be with him on his wedding night".
