Pandora

...Pandora was the first female person ever created by the Greek gods. Zeus, the King of the gods, ordered from Hephaestus, the blacksmith, to create a female human form out of earth and water and to make her look as beautiful as the gods. All Olympian gods contributed to the creation of her appearance and personality, in both a positive and a negative way. Aphrodite, the goddess of love, blessed her with beauty and grace, but on the other side there was Apollo, the god of the music, who seeded lies into Pandora's soul... Athena, with the help of the Graces , ornated her with golden jewellery, but Hermes, the gods' messenger, made her shameless and Hera, the wife of Zeus, blessed her with extreme curiosity...

Nike

After competing against the Greek god Poseidon, Athena officially became the patron deity of the city of ancient Athens and the Parthenon was built in her honour. She was known as "Athena Nike" (Athena the victorious), as she was believed to have given the Athenians the victory during the Persian War.

Ajax is known for his size and strength, so much so that the tag line of a popular cleaning product was "Ajax: Stronger than dirt." There were actually two Greek heroes in the Trojan War named Ajax. The other, physically much smaller Ajax is the Oilean Ajax or Ajax the Lesser.

Aphrodite

Aphrodite was created from the foam of the crystal waters of Paphos in the fragrant island of Cyprus, when the Titan Cronos slew his father, the major Titan Ouranos, and threw then his genitals into the sea. Aphrodite was married to the lame smith Hephaestus, who was the Olympian God of the Iron, but her heart was devoted to Ares, the God of War, with whom Aphrodite was having a passionate, but secret love affair.

Apollo

Apollo was the Olympian God of the Sun, the Light, the Music and Prophrcy Apollo was born by the King of the Gods Zeus and the mortal Leto in the divine Greek island of Delos. He was the younger twin of Artemis, the Greek goddess of the hunt.

Ares

Ares was the Olympian God of War and the figure behind all kind of violence Ares, the Greek god of War, was the son of Zeus and Hera. The half-sister of Ares was Athena, the goddess of Wisdom and Skill. Athena also was a goddess of War but approached war solely for the purposes of justice.The symbol of Ares was the spear and his sacred animal was the dog The Roman name of Ares is "Mars"

Artemis

Artemis was the Greek goddess of the Hunt and the Moon and protector of expectant women and the young. Greek goddess Artemis was born in Mount Cynthus at the island of Delos in Greece as a daughter of Zeus, the Ruler of the Greek gods and the mortal Leto. Artemis' twin brother was Apollo, the god of the Sun, whereas Artemis' cult was connected with the Moon. She had been born before Apollo and had helped her mother Leto .

Athena

Athena was the Greek goddess of Wisdom, Skill and War. Athena was a child of Zeus and Metis, Zeus' first wife, who was keeping inside herself all the world's wisdom.Athena was the goddess who taught mankind various skills such as weaving and sewing to the women and agriculture and metallurgy to men. She was always giving precious advice and stood by on any danger.

Cronus

Cronus was the leader of the titans and father of the Olympian Gods.Cronus and Rhea gave birth to six of the fourteen Olympian Gods, including Zeus, the King of the Gods, Hera, the goddess of marriage and wife of Zeus, Poseidon, the god of the seas, Hestia, the goddess of the hearth, Demeter, the goddess of agriculture and Hades, the god of the underworld.

Demeter

Demeter was the Greek goddess of agriculture and vegetation.Demeter was the second daughter of the major Titans Rhea and Cronus, after Hestia, the goddess of the hearth.

Dionysus

Dionysus was the Greek God of Wine, Joy and Theatre and a Lover of Peace. Dionysus was born in Thebesas the son of Zeus, the King of the Gods and the beautiful princess Semele. Because of his mortal mother, his birthplace Thebes refused to acknowledge him as an immortal at first.

Eros

Eros was the winged god of Love in Ancient Greece.Eros was the Greek symbol of love and desire. He was shooting magic, golden arrows into the hearts of both mortals and immortals, spreading physical desire but also numbness and pain. Eros himself was deeply in love with the Greek goddess Psyche, the goddess who incorporated human emotions.

Hades

Greek god Hades was a son of the titans Cronus and Rhea. Hades' wife was Persephone, whom he abducted from her divine mother Demeterand took with him down to the Underworld.Hades was the Greek god of the Dead and, according to Plato.

Hephaestus

Hephaestus was the Greek God of Metallurgy and the Smith of the Olympian Gods. Hephaestus was the son of Zeusand Hera, although it was considered by some that he had been conceived prenuptially. Hephaestus was married to Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of Beauty, but unfortunately Aphrodite never devoted herself entirely to Hephaestus.

Hera

Hera was the goddess of Marriage and Family and protector of married women. Hera was born by the Titans Cronus and Rheaand was one of the three sisters of Zeus and later on became his wife as well. The royal wedding of Zeus and Herawas celebrated with exceptional splendour and the couple gave birth to four children; Eilithyia, the goddess who was protecting the childbirth, Ares, the Olympian god of war, Hebe, the goddess of youth and Hephaestus, the Olympian god of metallurgy. According to some beliefs, Hephaestus was born without the intervention of Zeus.

Heracles

Heracles was born in Thebes, Greecewhen Zeus managed to seduce his flame, Alkmene, by transforming himself into her husband Amphitryon. Zeus affair with Alkmene resulted in the hatred of Zeus' wife Hera and her will to destroy Heracles by any means.

Hermes

Hermes was born inside a cave on Mount Cyllene in Arcadia (Peloponnes) as the son Zeus, the King of the Gods, and the mountain Nymph Maea, who was a daughter of the Titan Atlas.Hermes was wearing wings on his sandals and therefore was the speediest of all Greek gods. Because of his speed, Hermes received the role of the messenger and conductor of souls to the Underworld.

Hestia

Hestia was the goddess of the hearth, home and family. Hestia personified the fire hat was burning in the hearth of every home. All families were pouring sweet wine in her name and dedicated her the richest portion. The hearth fire was not allowed to go out by any family unless it was ritually extinguished. Hestia herself was never leaving her residence, the sacred mountain of Olympus.

Olympians

Odysseus was one of the most cunning, yet prudent heroes of the Trojan War, according to the Greek legends. He is a main character in Homer's Epos "Odyssey" and is also mentioned in the "Iliad" as the collaborator of Agamemnon. Odysseus was a Greek hero who became famous through his participation in the Trojan War. He initially didn't want to join, faking madness. Only when the hero Palamedes threatened to kill his son Telemachus with a sword did Odysseus reveal his sanity and finally agreed to take part.

Paris

Paris or Alexander,in Greek mythology, son of Priam and Hecuba and brother of Hector. Because it was prophesied that he would cause the destruction of Troy, Paris was abandoned on Mt. Ida, but there he was raised by shepherds and loved by the nymph Oenone. Later he returned to Troy, where he was welcomed by Priam. Paris was chosen to settle a dispute among the goddesses Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite, all of whom claimed possession of the apple of discord, a golden fruit inscribed "to the fairest." It had been thrown among the guests at the wedding of Peleus and Thetis by Eris, who sought revenge because she had not been invited. Hera tried to bribe Paris with royal greatness and riches, and Athena offered him success in war, but Paris awarded the apple to Aphrodite, who promised him Helen, the most beautiful of women. With Aphrodite's help he abducted Helen from King Menelaus of Sparta; thus he brought on the Trojan War. In the war Paris killed Achilles, but was himself fatally wounded by Philoctetes.

Persephone

Persephone was the Queen of the Underworld. Persephone was the daughter of Zeus and the Greek goddess of vegetation, Demeter. Often she was defined as "Core", meaning the "maid".

Poseidon

Poseidon was the God of the Seas, the horses and the earthquakes. Poseidon was considered to be the bad-tempered, moody and greedy god among the Olympians. Once insulted, he would revenge himself, like he did in the case of Odysseus, who brutally blinded his son, the Cyclopes Polyphemus. Poseidon loved to cross the oceans and seas with his golden chariot surrounded by dolphins.

Prometheus

Prometheus was the creator and fire bearer of mankind.Prometheus received the order from the Gods to populate the Earth and to endow mankind with powers and gifts. He created man out of the elements of earth and water and then stole wisdom from Athena and fire from Hephaestusto give them both to human race for its use. There he was chained fiercely to a rock, having an eagle tearing with its talons at his liver every day. In the end, Prometheus was rescued by Heracleswho shot the eagle and brought Prometheus back to Mount Olympus.

Sisyphus

Sisyphus was a son of Aeolus, the god of the winds. He was the founder and King of Corinthand had two brothers; Athamas, a king of Boeotia, and Critheus, the founder of Iolkos. Sisyphus was also the grandfather of Bellerophon, who was the owner of the magic winged horse Pegasus. Sisyphos was renowned of his wealth, his smartness and his cunningness but used his assets to cause harm and offence to the gods.

Tartarus

Tartarus lives in the bowels of the Earth, many miles below as the anvil falls, and holds together the bottomless pits of the world. Presumably Hades rents the Underworld from him on favorable terms. As Greek Mythology developed, Tartarus sank into oblivion, giving his name to the dark places of punishment for those that have been judged guilty of unspeakablenesses.

Zenus

Zeus was the Supreme God in Ancient Greece, father of the Olympian gods and ruler of mankind. Zeus married his own sister Hera, the goddess of marriage and monogamy, but was giving her plenty of reasons to be jealous, since Zeus was renowned of his numerous love affairs. As a result, Zeus was the father of plenty of children.
