Thrust

high velocity, low amplitude therapeutic movement within or at end range of motion

Convex moving on concave

joint glide direction opposite to direction of physiological movement

Concave moving on convex

joint glide direction same as direction of physiological movement

Mennell's rule for joint play testing

patient - relaxed, supported examiner - firm, comfortable grasp 1 joint at a time 1 movement at a time test unaffected side first stabilize 1 articular surface, move the other normal movements - not forced movements should not cause excessive discomfort or pain
