Layers of the Skin: Dermis
reticular layer
- dense irregular connective tissue - collagen fibers and elastic fibers -4/5 of dermis (thicker) -deepest layer
papillary layer
-areolar connective tissue -elastic fibers and fine collagen fibers -dermal papillae located here -1/5 of dermis -superficial layer
cutaneous plexus
-boundary between reticular layer and hypodermis - hypodermis also called "subcutaneous" layer
dermis contains:
-collagen fibers and elastic fibers -blood vessels, nerves, and glands
papillary plexus
-supply blood to capillary loop that follows boundary of epidermis - in papillary region of dermis
dermis cell types:
fibroblasts, macrophages, adipocytes
Collagen and Elastic fibers
give skin strength, extensibility and elasticity
plexus
network, blood supply through dermis
layers of the dermis (superficial to deep)
papillary and reticular
Dermal Blood supply:
papillary plexus and cutaneous plexus
blood supply function
regulate body temp -sends blood to skin
