Steps for students having difficulty in school
first call together the Student Success Team (set goals and then evaluate the goals), second create an IEP (then have meeting once a month), then placed in a RSP (resource specialist program) for less than 50% of the time
Characteristics of an effect teacher
superior knowledge of subject, experience, high expectations, praise, classroom management is minimal, teaches to class of small groups, less seatwork, teacher selects activities, models what is to be taught, questions with high success rate, detailed lesson plans, prepares learners for learning, many opportunities to learn the material which is driven by curriculum/testing standards, uses probing questions
The four steps in the SST
talk about students strengths, discuss know info (old tests, scores), ask parent about home environment and other history, then develop an action plan (what should be done, who will do it, when will it happen)
