Mode Usage

Helps us calculate trends (How something is doing) A company can track which one of its products sells the most on average using the mode. A shoe salesman can use the mode to find which shoe sizes he sells the most of on average by looking at which shoe sizes he sells more frequently.

Median Definition

The number in the middle of a group of numbers. It also represents a type of average. Put the numbers in order from least to greatest Cross them out one at a time going left to right. Until your left If you have two numbers in the middle you have to add them together and then divide by 2 and that's the median.

Median Example

There are 5 rent prices for 1 bedroom apartments. $1,000 dollars per month, $1,200 per month 1,000/1,200 / 1,400 / 1,500/ 1,600 1,400 per month is the median price.

Median Usage

We use the median to look at salaries and rent prices. We can use the median to negotiate how much money we should earn at a job. We can use the median to see if we have enough money to move certain areas or not- the median price will help us budget.

Mode Definition

A number that occurs the most when looking at a set of numbers/ information. You find it by looking for the number that appear most often in a data set.
