Mitosis of an Animal Cell
Centromeres
a point in a chromosome in which it is attached to a fiber during cell division
Metaphase
second phase of mitosis, during which the chromosomes line up across the center of the cell.
Centrioles
One of two tiny structures located in the cytoplasm of animal cells near the nuclear envelope; play a role in cell division.
Anaphase
a phase of mitosis in which the chromosomes separate
Microtubules
hollow tubes of protein about 25 nanometers in diameter, support the cell and moves organelles within the cell active in mitosis.
Telophase
the final stage of meiosis when the chromosomes move toward opposite ends of the nuclear spindle.
Prophase
the first stage of mitosis.
Interphase
the stage of the cell cycle that takes place before cell division occurs.
Chromosomes
threadlike structures made of DNA molecules that contain the genes.
