Neck Muscles - Cervical Flexion
longus colli - superior oblique head
O - C3-C5 vertebrae (transverse process) I - atlas (anterior arch) A - cervical flexion (weak) lateral bending
scalenus anterior
O - C3-C6 vertebrae (transverse processes, anterior tubercles) I - first rib A - cervical flexion elevation of first rib rotation of cervical spine to same side lateral bending to same side
longus colli - vertical intermediate head
O - T1-T3 and C5-C7 vertebrae I - C2-C4 vertebrae A - cervical flexion (weak)
longus colli - inferior oblique head
O - T1-T3 vertebrae (anterior bodies) I - C5 - C6 vertebrae (transverse processes, anterior tubercles) A - cervical flexion (weak) cervical rotation to opposite side lateral bending
sternocleidomastoid - clavicular head
O - clavicle (medial superior and anterior) I - temporal bone (mastoid process) A - same as sternal head card
sternocleidomastoid - sternal head
O - sternum (manubrium) I - two heads blend in middle of neck occiput (lateral and superior nuchal line) A - flexion of cervical spine lateral bending toward same side rotate head opposite side capital extension (posterior fibers) raises sternum in forced inspiration
