Occupational safety and health act of 1970

ATSDR

Established in 1980 under the superfund law, examines hazardous waste sites and other environmental releases. Conducts applied reserch regarding public health assessments, provides education and training concerining hazardous subtances

GHS

Globally harmonized system of classification and labeling off chemicals - provides standardization of the manner in which chemicals are classified and labeled, shows risks

ILO

International labour organization- founded in 1919, specialized united nations agency, promotes rights at work, enhance social protection, strengthen dialogue on work-related issues

NIEHS

National Institute of environmental health sciences - supports research into environmental health - national toxicology program, maintenance of research labs.

NIOSH (CDC)

National institute for occupational safety and health - Federal agency for conducting research and making recommendations for the prevention of work- related illnesses and injuries - established under the occupational safety and health act of 1970, part of the CDC

OSHA

Occupational health and safety administration - to assure safe and healthful conditions for working, part of the US department of labor, enforcement and inspections
