Parts of a Letter
Special notations
Additional notes added to the end of the letter as needed. Examples: Enclosure, Typist's initials, CC, P.S.
Complimentary closing
a polite way of ending the letter and saying " Good bye". Capitalize only the first word and follow with a comma. (Examples: Sincerely, Sincerely yours, Respectfully, Thank you,.)
Body paragraphs
The message of the letter; most likely will include 2 or more paragraphs
Inside address
the name and complete address of the person receiving the letter
Salutation (greeting)
Includes Dear, person's title, last name, and colon. Examples: Dear Miss Adams: , Dear Governor Smith:
Letterhead or return address
The address of the person sending the letter. (Doesn't usually include the person's name)
Signature lines (signature block)
The hand signed name of the sender followed by the typed name of the sender.
