modeled reading and writing
demonstrate fluent reading & writing; explain how to use comprehension strategies, such as predicting, monitoring, & revising; teach procedure for new reading or writing activity; show how reading and writing conventions & other skills work
shared reading and writing
involve sts in reading and writing activities that they couldn't do independently; provide opportunities for sts to experience success in reading and writing
interactive reading and writing
practice reading and writing high-frequency words; teach and practice phonics and spelling skills; read and write texts that sts could not do independently; have sts share reading and writing expertise with classmates
guided reading and writing
support sts reading in instructional-level materials; teach literacy procedures, concepts, skills, and strategies during minilessons; introduce different types of writing activities; teach sts to use the writing process, esp how to revise and edit
