What was special about his birth?

It was very similar to Jesus' birth. The Holy Spirit revealed great things to Zacharia at John's birth.

What did Elijah tell the pagan priest's to do? What was the result?

He told them to set up altars of sacrifice and ask their god's to set the altar on fire. No matter how hard they prayed, nothing happened to the altar.

Name the minor prophets.

Hosea, Joel, Amos,and Obadiah

What persecution did he face?

King Herod did not being told he was wrong by others. John told him to repent and his angered him greatly. John was thrown in jail and later beheaded.

What special role did Saint John the Baptist have?

Saint John the baptist acted as a bridge between the Old and New Testament. He prepared the Jews for the ministry of Jesus and told the Jews to repent.

What did Elijah want to prove to the people?

That there was only one true God.

What two titles are given to him? why?

The Herald and Forerunner of Jesus. A forerunner is someone who goes before another person to prepare people for his coming ( John prepared the Jews for Jesus' coming). A herald is someone who announces the coming of a royal person ( Said Jesus would come. Jesus=King).
