What is the lesson of the Parable of the Talents?

In the Parable of the Talents, a master (who represents God) gives each of his servants (who represent us as Christians) a different amount of talents (money) and tells them to go and profit from the talents and make more of them. Two of the servants succeed but one buries his talents in the ground and does not use them. When the master finds this out, he praises the two servants who succeed in their job but scorns the one who fails. This is teaching us to use our God-given talents to better the world. Even though we may not have equal talents, we still are all called to salvation.
