Science--States of Matter
Magnetism
A force that pulls magnet materials across a distance.
State of Matter
A form that matter can take; states of matter include: solid, liquid, gas and plasma.
Solubility
A measure of how much of one substance will dissolve in another substance.
Conductivity
A physical property of materials that measures how well the substance allows electricity to pass.
Physical Property
A property that can be observed, measured, or changed without changing the substance itself.
Substance
A single type of matter that has the same properties (not a mixture)
Liquid
A state of matter in which a substance has a definite volume but takes the shape of it's container.
Solid
A state of matter in which the substance has a definite shape and a definite volume.
Gas
A state of matter in which the substance takes both the shape and the volume of it's container.
Graduated Cylinder
Instrument used to measure volume of a liquid
Particle
One small part of a whole object or system.
Balance
Scientific tool used to measure mass.
Volume
The amount of space that something takes up: volume can be measured using a graduated cylinder.
Matter
The material or stuff that everything is made of.
Dissolve
To form a solution with another substance.
