Metal

Category: Metals are elements that can conduct heat and electricity well. ex: Titanium is a metal. Metals are elements that are good conductors of electric current and heat.

Ductile

Category: Properties A flatenable material. ex: Gold. A malleable material is one that can be hammered or rolled into flat sheets.

Thermal Conductivity

Category: Properties A material that can transfer heat. ex: Iron. Thermal conductivity is the ability of an object to transfer heat.

Corrosion

Category: Properties A metal breaking down because it is reacting with the environment. ex: Silver The deterioration of a metal due to a chemical reaction in the environment is called corrosion.

Luster

Category: Properties A shiny and reflective material. ex: Gold. A material that has a high luster is shiny and reflective.

Reactivity

Category: Properties How fast or easily an element reacts with another substance. ex: Sodium reacts with water. The ease and speed with which an element combines or reacts, with other substances is called the reactivity.

Transition Metal

Category: Properties Made up of group 3-12. ex: Mercury. The elements in Groups 3-12 are called the transition metals

Alkali Metal

Category: Properties Made up of the first group of metals in the periodic table, and are the most reactive. ex: Lithium. the metals of group 1, from Lithium (Li) To Francium (fr), are called the alkali metals. These metals are the most reactive metals in the periodic table.

Alkaline Earth Metal

Category: Properties Made up of the second group in the periodic table and are harder, denser, and melt at higher temperatures. ex: Magnesium. The metals of group 2 are called the alkaline earth metals. These metals are harder and denser, and melt at higher temperatures than the alkali melts.

Electrical Conductivity

Category: Properties The ability to carry an electric current. ex: Copper. The ability to carry an electric current is called electrical conductivity.
