Section 7: Changing, Replacing, and Renewing your Drivers license
To change gender on your ID and license it is required to:
-Complete a new Driver's license and ID card application. -provide proof of identity, SS #, 2 proofs of California residency, and a gender category request form. -Go to DMV to finalize, bring paperwork, scan thumbprint, pay the fee your will get a temporary DL and receive the actual one within 60 days, If applied for an ID then it should take 3-4 weeks with a receipt as evidence until then.
How to extend DL:
-file a request before the license expires -the request must include name, DL #, birthdate, California residence address, out of state address. Mail the request to DMV PO Box 942890 Sacramento, CA 94290-0001
To replace a lost, stolen, or damaged DL it is required to:
-fill out a DL and ID application -Visit an online DMV or a DMV in person -pay a non-refundable replacement fee -provide proof of identity to get temporary DL -If a minor guardian must sign DL 44/ eDL 44. -cut up old license once new one is received.
To change the address on your ID and license it is required to:
-notify the DMV within 10 days of the moving (this can be don online, by mail, or at the DMV office) -Change address with US postal service a new drivers license is not give but you can request a replacement drivers license for a fee.
How to renew license
-Californian licenses expires on the owners birthday 5 years after insurance. -you can renew your license by phone, in-person, by mail, or online.
In order to change your name on your ID and license it is required to:
-Change your name with the social security administration -Complete a new Driver's license and ID card application. -Bring your name changed documents to a DMV office.
Requirements to extend DL:
If your are away from California for a long period of time and cannot renew by online you can request to extend license by 1 year.
