The people relied on the yearly floods to provide fertile land for their crops.It is known as the life blood of Egypt basically because it overflowed and enriched the soil and brought forth abundant crops. Especially wheat. They collected water to fill in there irrigation systems to use in the hot desert times. As the "lifeblood" of Egypt, the Nile River was and continues to be essential to daily life in Egypt. It is also important to the other places through which it flows
