- blood found in umbilical cord (rich source of stem cells) -cells can develop into any of the various kinds of blood cells (like tissue stem cells) -collected blood can be stored incase it is needed later (only immediately after birth)

regeneration

-ability of a tissue to repair itself -skin, muscle, bone can regenerate after an injury -not all cells can regenerate
