Although the seeds endured storms, drought and dismemberment, they prospered in the Caribbean and is believed to be the father of many Coffee Arabica Trees in the former French colonies of central and Latin America.

1727
Brazil breaks the Dutch and French Monopoly. Brazilian lieutenant Colonel was sent to resolve an issue between the French and Dutch. Began an affair with the wife of French Guiana's governor. The wife provided and farewell bouquet where'd she concealed fertile seeds. These seeds turned Brazil into one of the World's largest coffee producing country.

Coffee Leaf Rust Appears in Ceylon (Sri Alanna) Destroyed most of coffee plants in India, Ceylon, and other parts of Asia.
1615-1700
Coffee enters Europe through the Port of Venice. Venetian merchant fell in love with coffee in Turkey so he brought it back to Italy. Coffeehouses in Italy, London and Paris opened.
1690
Coffee smuggled out of the Arab port of Mocha. Dutch became the first to transport and cultivate coffee commercially. masterdamn became a trading center for coffee.
1300
Coffee travels with the spread of Islam. Drink coffee as a bean broth because they believe it warded off evil. Islam spread to North Africa, the med, and Asia along with coffee. Boiled the beans to prevent sprouting outside Arabia. Indian Pilgrim smuggled coffee beans out of Mecca.
Noble Tree
Coffee tree given by the Dutch to Louis XIV, while on leave in Paris, a naval officer stole a sprout and took it to Martinique.

German Housewife invents first coffee filter. Melitta Bentz looked for the perfect way to brew the ideal cup of coffee with out the bitterness from over brewing. Took her son's school paper, cut in circle and place it in a metal cup (kind of like a pour over).
1900
Germans Discover Decaffeination. Ludwig Roselius and Karl Wimmer accidentally discovered decaffeination when one of their shipments from Nicaragua was soaked in seawater. Learned how to extract caffeine using solvents and steam to avoid salty flavor.
Coffeehouses
In Arabia where men would meet to socialize, play games and drink coffee. Women were not allowed.

Lieutenant colonel sent to mediate issues between French and Dutch colonies. Has an affair with a government officials wife who then gifts him with fertile coffee seeds.

Monks called the discovery as coffee as it helped them stay up during long prayers.

New York Coffee Exchange Opens
1450-1650
Ottoman Taurus bring coffee to Constantinople. Coffeehouses appeared. Women used coffee for medicinal purposes.
1900-1910
R.W Hills creates vacuuming packaging. Melts beans fresher longer. Cause many local businesses to close shop. Luigi Bezzera creates first commercial "espresso" machine. Rumor that he created it so his employees could have shorter coffee breaks.
1901
Soluble Coffee is invented by Japanese American chemist Satori Kato. In 1906 George Washington took the concept and premiered the first mass produced instant coffee. Had little flavor so needed improvement.
London Stock Exchange
Stockbrokers gathered in coffeehouses in London evolved into the London Stock Exchange.
