21. Where is Security
In chapter 18 Marshall came into Melanie's room trying to get her to take him back to Egypt to get Security. But it was really dark and raining really hard so Melanie told Marshall that it might be at his nursery. The next day they went to Egypt and Marshall was missing. She takes April's question from Thoth's beak, turns the paper over, and sees an answer! Now it doesn't seem like a game anymore, and they talk about quitting. So Melanie wrote an oracle asking where is Marshall. They were all worried mostly, Toby.
22. Confession And Confusion
In chapter 19 Toby confessed to April and Melanie that he was writing the oracles. April suggests that they say he went on a trip to California to see his family and he will be back soon. But they saw someone actually wrote on the back and it said to look under Set's altar. Then there was Security under Set's altar.
23. Fear Strikes
In chapter 20, it starts off when the Egyptians are debating wether or not to ask the oracle another question. They decided not. That night while Mr. Ross, Mrs. Ross, and Melanie go to a concert April babysits Marshall. April couldn't find her math book so she had to go without it but then when she gets to there apartment she remembers that it got left in Egypt. So Marshall gets a flashlight so they can go get her book. They make it into Egypt and there it was April's math book but on the way out something grabs Melanie and put his hands over her mouth. Someone from inside the land shouted for help and while people where coming over he let go of her and left.
24. The Hero
In chapter 21 April is taken to the police station so they can get some answers. April didn't know anything about the person who grabbed her but Marshall did. Marshall said it was not the Professor. April calls Caroline grandma and asks her to take her home. Marshall is now known as the hero and he doesn't need to take Security with him everywhere.
13. Foreshadow
One example of foreshadowing was when in the text said "almost put an end to The Egypt Game." Since the text says almost we know that The Egypt Game is just put on paused and they're going to resume it.
14. Conflict
One of the conflicts are when April and Melanie were talking about the eyelashes. April vs. Melanie
25. Gains and Losses
The Egyptians think the game is now over because Toby saw that the fence what fixed and they put wiring at the top. The shop is much nicer, has many more customers, and even Ms. Chung works there. When April went back to say thank you to the Professor for saving her life he shows her a piece of stone with hieroglyphics written on it. When she got home she got a letter from her mom say how her and Nick are going to Palm Springs for Christmas and they want April to come. April replies saying thank you for the invite but she has plans with her grandmother and Melanie.
26. Christmas Keys
The Professor calls Caroline that he wants to see all the Egyptians and wants to talk to them. When he got to there apartment all the kids welcomed him and he talks about how he met he wife, Anne, and taught anthropology at the university. He starts talking about all the play Ed he would travel to and how his wife got killed at one of the places. He sold his house and moved into the A-Z store. He always watched the children as they played and wrote the Oracle about where Security was. At the end the Professor gave each of them a key to Egypt. As Melanie and April were talking they were saying how it's not going to be the same so April asked, "Melanie, what do you know about the Egyptians?"
20. The Oracle Speaks
The next day April, Melanie, Toby, and Ken went back to Egypt. This time April is the priestess. April takes Ken's question out from under the beak of the owl to see if God answers. Ken's question was if he will ever be in the Big Leagues. There was writing on the back that said, "Man is his own star, and that soul who can be honest, is the perfect man." No one wrote that on the back so they pulled sticks and April got the shortest. So, April wrote a question on the back and everyone is going to keep an eye on one or another to make sure none of the Egyptians are writing on it. Suddenly there was a loud bang! It was thunder and everyone left in a hurry.
18. The Ceremony For The Dead
The six Egyptians decide to have a ceremony for Elizabeth's parakeet. They couldn't decide on who to be the priestess so Elizabeth put pebbles in one hand and the boys won. They pretended the parakeet was an Egyptian prince named Pete- ho- hep and he died in battle. They had an idea for everyone to bring something so they can mummify Pete- ho- hep. Elizabeth didn't want them to take his guts out so instead they're soaking him in saltwater (brine.)
19. The Oracle Of Thoth
Toby asks the teacher about oracles in English class. Toby looks at April and Melanie and makes a face at them. After school all the Egyptians talked about oracles. Ken was the first one who had to ask his question. He didn't believe it was real and thought everyone was crazy so it took some it took some encouragement. So he wrote it down on a piece of paper, Toby sprinkled holy water on it, and they put it into a fire. They leave the yard, looking back nervously at Thoth, the owl god.
12. Flashback
When they were in September then went to back to August and to September again.
16. moods and maybes
summary- In chapter 13 April was kind of in a bad mood. Dorothea finally wrote back saying how her and Nick got married and they moved into a tiny place. She'll have to send all of April's things back to her and Caroline because she claims that they have unlimited storage. Caroline tries and comfort her and she succeeds a little. Mr. and Mrs. Ross said that Melanie and Marshall can play outside as long as they aren't by themselves; and Caroline said April can play outside when Melanie and Marshall can. Then it was Friday April was in a better mood and it's the first time Toby and Ken play the Egypt Game with the girls. They perform their rituals again and the girls discuss how long the boys will be interested in the game.
17. Hieroglyphics
summary- In chapter 14, Toby and Ken come back to actually participate in the Egypt Game. The six Egyptians decided to earn hieroglyphic so they can right secrets codes. Toby had a lot of ideas for the game and Ken just carried things for him. Toby also came up with names for everyone. Toby's Egyptian name is Ramose and his hieroglyph symbol is an owl. Ken's Egyptian name is Horemheb and his symbol is a bloody sword. Melanie's Egypt Game name is Aida and her symbol is a bird. April's Egyptian name is Bastet and her symbol is a cat with earrings. Elizabeth's Egyptian name is Neferbeth and her symbol is a heart. Finally, Marshall's Egyptian name is Marshamosis and his symbol is a double crown. Elizabeth's parakeet named Petey got killed by the neighbors cat. So April and Melanie had an idea to have a Ceremony for the Dead.
