Terminating Decimal
A decimal number that ends or terminates Is Rational!!
scientific notation
A method of writing or displaying numbers in terms of a decimal number between 1 and 10 multiplied by a power of 10.
Irrational Number
Any number that CANNOT be written as a fraction. *non perfect squares. *PI *decimals that are non-terminating AND non-repeating
Rational Number
Any number that can be written as a fraction; includes natural, whole, and integer numbers; includes decimals that terminate or repeat
Product Rule for Exponents
Keep the base, add the exponents
Quotient Rule for Exponents
Keep the base, subtract the exponents (usually written as a fraction)
Power of a Power Rule
Multiply every exponent inside the parentheses by the exponent on the outside of the parentheses.
Perfect Square
Product of two factors that are each the same number
Natural Number
Set of counting numbers starting with 1 and going to infinity
Whole Number
Set of natural (counting numbers) numbers and zero
Integers
Set of whole numbers and their opposites and zero
Repeating Decimal
The decimal form of a rational number that has a continues with the same number Is Rational!!
Real Number
The set of rational numbers together with the set of irrational numbers
Radical Sign
The symbol used to indicate a positive square root
Exponents
exponents show repeated multiplication
Square Root
one of the two equal factors of a number. "What number multiplied by itself gives me this number?"
