Darwin taught that in the natural order the strong eat the weak and only the fittest survive.
How did economic factors drive Imperialism?
Economic factors were the most important motivation behind imperialism. Due to industrialization, European countries had more money and more production than ever before. These European countries, such as France, need new markets to sell these products and new markets to acquire labor and raw materials to ensure their industrial economies keep thriving.
Why does France need to find new consumer markets for their exports?
France needs to find new consumer markets in other parts of the world because it is essential for wealth.

Military factors drove imperialism by creating bases to expand and protect their empire.
How is Imperialism tied to the industrial revolution?
The industrial revolution has created a booming industry/economy in many European countries due to mechanized agriculture and factory output. In order for European countries to get more capital and grow their wealth, they need to have more exports so they need to create colonies that are forced to buy their goods and extract labor from these colonies so they can get more raw materials.
