Types of graphs
Bar Graph
Consists of rectangular bars that differ in height or length according to their value
Histograms
Data is continous without breaks, similar to bar graphs
Pictographs
Diagrams that show and compare data by using picture symbols
Pie Charts
Divided into segments which reflect the proportion of the variables in relation to the whole
Line Graphs
Forcast results of data because they can indicate a change in direction
outlier
a value much greater or much less than the others in a data set
Area
length x width
volume
length x width x depth
x axis
the horizontal axis of a graph, usually used for categories of things or spans of time
maximum
the largest number in a set of data
median
the middle value in a set of data (when the values are arranged numerically)
mode
the most frequent value of a random variable
minimum
the smallest number in a set of data
y axis
the vertical axis of a graph, scale going up the side and indicates numbers and description of the amount
mean
The average of a set of numbers
interval
The distance between two numbers on the scale of a graph
median
The middle number in a set of numbers that are listed in order
Mode
The number in a data set that occurs most frequently.
scale
The size of the units on an axis of a graph or number line. usually on the y axis
