He bonds with an African American man named Uncle Remus who is a story teller. Remus tells him stories about a rabbit who is witty and shrewd who outwits a fox and bear. The story comes to conclusion when the mother gets mad at Uncle Remus for fulling his head of nonsense and she is so harsh with him that he decides to leave the plantation, the climax is the boy is so sad because he loves him. He chases Uncle Remus through a field and a bull attacks him and puts him in a coma. They bring Uncle Remus up to the room and brings the boy out of his coma. Mom and dad get back together, Uncle Remus comes back to live there and everyone lives happily ever after.
