Natural Numbers (Counting Numbers)
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, etc. Whole numbers that are not negative.
non-terminating decimal
A decimal number that continues infinitely, or without end.
Perfect Square
A rational number whose square root is a whole number
Integer
All whole numbers (both positive and negative) and zero.
rational number
Any number that can be expressed as a ratio of two integers. A number that either terminates OR is repeating.
Decimal Expansion
Writing a rational number in decimal form. Converting a fraction to it's decimal form ie. 3/4 = .75
non-repeating decimal
a decimal that does not have digits that repeat forever
Irrational Number
a number that can NOT be expressed as a ratio of two integers or as a repeating or terminating decimal - Pi or any square root of an imperfect square are considered irrational
square root
a number that when multiplied by itself equals a given number
