3g

3G (short for third generation) is the third generation of wireless mobile telecommunications technology. It is the upgrade for 2.5G GPRS and 2.75G EDGE networks, for faster data transfer.

802.11n

Added (MIMO) multiple-input-multiple-output. The additional transmitter and receiver antennas allow for increased data throughput through spatial multiplexing and increased range. -The real speed would be 100mbps, 250mbps wires; thus increasing speeds 4-5 times 802.11g 20MHz and 40MHz

Channels 1-11

All Wi-Fi network equipment communicates over specific wireless channels designated by a number. There are 11 channels on the 2.4 GHz band, with channel 1 operating at a center frequency and channel 11 operating at a higher frequency. Popular 5 GHz channels include 36, 40, 44, and 48; each channel is separated by 5MHz.

Zigbee

IEEE 802.15.4-based specification for a suite of high-level communication protocols used to create personal area networks with small, low-power digital radios, such as for home automation, medical device data collection, and other low-power low-bandwidth needs, designed for small scale projects which need wireless connection.

IEEE 802.11

Its a set of Local Area Network (LAN) protocols, and specifies the of media access control (MAC) and physical layer protocol or implementing a wireless local area network (WLAN). They are the world's most widely used wireless computer networking standards, used in most home and office networks to allow laptops, printers, smartphones, and other devices to communicate with each other and access the Internet without connecting wires.

802.11a

Its an extension to 802.11 that applies to wireless LANs and provides up to 54Mbps in the 5Ghz. 22MHz

LTE

Long-Term Evolution is a standard for wireless broadband communication for mobile devices and data terminals, based on the GSM/EDGE and UMTS/HSPA technologies.

Frequency 2.4Ghz

Many of the cordless telephones and baby monitors in the United States and Canada use the 2.4 GHz frequency, the same frequency at which Wi-Fi standards 802.11b, 802.11g and 802.11n operate. This can cause a significant decrease in speed, or sometimes the total blocking of the Wi-Fi signal when a conversation on the phone takes place.

4g

Most popularly implemented as Long Term Evolution (LTE), a wireless data standard with theoretical download speeds of 300 Mbps and upload speeds of 75 Mbps.

RFID

Radio-frequency identification (RFID) uses electromagnetic fields to automatically identify and track tags attached to objects. An RFID system consists of a tiny radio transponder, a radio receiver and transmitter.

WiMAX

Technology that allows wireless Internet access over a wide area

Which wireless network type has a design that uses mesh topology? MAN WMN VLAN WAN

WMN

Which of the following is a long-distance line-of-sight Internet service? WiMAX IEEE 802.11 IR Bluetooth

WiMAX

Bluetooth

Wireless PAN technology that transmits signals over short distances between cell phones, computers, and other devices.

WMN

Wireless mesh network

Channel Bonding

With channel bonding, two wireless bands can be logically bonded together, forming a band with twice the bandwidth of an individual band. Some literature refers to channel bonding as 40-MHz mode, which refers to the bonding of two adjacent 20-MHz bands into a 40-MHz band. -increase the amount of available bandwidth

Z-Wave

Z-Wave is a wireless communications protocol used primarily for home automation. It is a mesh network using low-energy radio waves to communicate from appliance to appliance, allowing for wireless control of residential appliances and other devices, such as lighting control, security systems, thermostats, windows, locks, swimming pools and garage door openers.

802.11e

a wireless draft standard that defined (QOS) Quality of Service support for LANs, and is an enhancement to the 802.11a and 802.11b wireless LAN (WLAN)

802.11

applies ot wireless LANs and provides 1 to 2 Mbps transmission in the 2.4 GHz

802.11g

applies to wireless LANs and is used for transmission over short distances at up to 54-Mbps in the 2.4 GHz bands. Backwards compatible with 802.11b 20MHz

5g

5G is the fifth generation technology standard for broadband cellular networks, which cellular phone companies began deploying worldwide in 2019, and is the planned successor to the 4G networks which provide connectivity to most current cellphones.

Frequency 5Ghz

A 5 GHz network has a lower chance of picking up interference because most wireless devices such as Bluetooth devices, cordless phones, microwave ovens, and computers use the 2.4 GHz frequency.

802.11ac

Also known as WIFI 5 deliver data rates of 433Mbps per spatial stream, or 1.3Gbps in a three-antenna (three stream) design. The 802.11ac specification operates only in the 5 GHz frequency range and features support for wider channels (80MHz and 160MHz) and beamforming capabilities - 20MHz, 40MHz, 80MHz, 160MHz

NFC

NFC stands for "Near Field Communication" and, as the name implies, it enables short-range communication between compatible devices. This requires at least one transmitting device, and another to receive the signal. A range of devices can use the NFC standard and will be considered either passive or active.

Which of the following acronyms describes using a single twisted-pair Ethernet cable to carry both data and electrical power?

PoE

802.11b

Provides 11 Mbps transmission in the 2.4Ghz band. 22MHz

Multiple Input / Multiple Output (MIMO) is a wireless technology that allows for significant increase in data throughput due to the use of multiple antennas and multiple data streams. True or False

True
