Where was the first capital of the United States?
New York City Then Philadelphia and finally Washington DC. George Washington stayed in New York on his first term and Philadelphia in his second. Thomas Jefferson was 1st to stay at boardinghouse of humble Washington DC, compared to today; which was made by a French, previously a soldier to the continental army.

Congress, the White House and the Smithsonian Museums

It was a compromise that allowed the National Bank to be created.
