Early Life

Arthur Miller was born on October 17th, 1915 in Harlem. He came from a wealthy family, due to his dad owning a company that sold woman's coats. Miller's mother spent much of her time communicating with spirits through a Ouija board. He had a younger sister and older brother, both of whom he was jealous of. His sister got all the attention because she was the baby and his brother was "more handsome" and did better in school. During the great depression, the stock market crashed, causing his dad to lose the company

Late life

He married his first wife in 1940. Her name was smart Grace Slattery. Their marriage was difficult due to her being Catholic and him being Jewish. They had a daughter named Jane. Following a divorce with his first wife, Miller married Marilyn Monroe. In the year 1961, Miller and Monroe has divorced, and his mother passed away.

Middle life

The great depression greatly affected Arthur's life because it changed his entire family life. He nearly didn't make it to college due to not having enough money nor good enough grades, however he was later accepted into University of Michigan. Here he entered and won first prize in a drama-writing contest. The drama was titled No Villanova. In this story he has channeled his own family life. Miller wrote a drama titled "The Man Who Had All the Luck", which, unfortunately, was given bad reviews and quickly shut down after only a few performances. He decided giving a shot at literature, and wrote a documentary about experiences of American servicemen called "Situation Normal".
