What is the History of the Tommy Pitchford Inspirational Teacher Award?
- 1982, Dr. Harvey (pres of PITSCO, Inc.) began a recognition program honoring middle and HS teachers - Jim Coffey Inspirational Teacher Award honored Mr. Coffey for the positive and lasting influence - 2002, GA TSA lost a dear friend, Mr. Tommy Pitchford - 2003, Dr. Dean requested that the Jim Coffey award be renamed as the Tommy Pitchford Inspirational Teacher Award to honor the memory of Thomas Pitchford
Who qualifies in the Tommy Pitchford Scholarship?
- applicants must have a gap of 3.0 + - applicants must have applied to and be accepted by or already in attendance at a college or university in GA - recipient must major in Technology education or a field of engineering

- employability/soft skills seal - distinguished employability/soft skills seal - pathway skills seal - distinguished pathway skills seal
What are the 3 requirements for the Distinguished Leadership Skills Seal?
- held a leadership office at the regional, state, or national level in state recognized CTSO during Highschool - participate in at least 80 hours of documented community service, and/or community service campaigns
What are the requirements in receiving the Leadership Skills Seal?
- held members in a state-recognized Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) during highschool - prepare a portfolio to include a cover letter, resume, and three letters of recommendation
What are the goals of Technology Honor Society?
- to motivate TSA members to work to improve and maintain high academic marks - to promote the undertaking of leadership roles in school and community organizations - to promote participation in service activities that benefit a school or community - to recognize student concern for chapter, school, and community
What is the purpose of the Career Ready Diploma Seals?
Awarded to graduating highschool students who complete a series of accomplishments as outline and engage in activities, courses, and experiences that foster career readiness - signifies thaf student is prepared to participate in the workforce
What is the goal of the white star chapter?
Locate a prospective TSA chapter- a group of technology students in your community or state- which has not yet organized for TSA membership- and assist in the organization of a new TSA chapter
How is the Tommy Pitchford Inspirational Teacher Award determined?
Presented to the advisor whose chapter ranks the highest in overall points at the SLC with the stipulation that advisors can only receive the award once every seven years
What is the purpose of the TSA Technology Honor Society?
Recognizes students for their efforts in academic studies, in leadership, and in services to their school and community
How much is the award for the Tommy Pitchford Scholarship?
The GA TSA office handles funds: - $250 payable to the registrar of the post- secondary institution upon receipt of an official acceptance letter and prior to Sept. 1 - remaining $259 will be spent upon receipt of documentation of a first semester/quarter cumulative grade of 3.0+
