BD Alaris Pump Module
If the programmed drug is outside of the soft limit for that profile, the following will occur: (select all that apply) - An audio alert will sound - A visual prompt will appear requiring a Yes or No response - If the Yes soft key is pressed, programming continues - If No is pressed, the infusion needs to be reprogrammed - If the soft limit is overridden, a G icon is displayed - G icon soft key lists all applicable out-of-range limits - Channel message display will show three up arrows for a limit above or three L's for a limit below

When loading primary IV tubing into the BD Alaris Pump Module (select all that apply): - Open the module door - Hold the upper fitment above the fitment recess and lower it down into the recess - Be certain there are no twists in the tubing - Press the blue safety clamp into the recess - Firmly push the tubing toward the back of the air-in-line detector - Gently close the module door - Open the roller clamp and verify no fluid is flowing through the drip chamber

A facility can define Clinical Advisories for specific entries within the Guardrails library that display in the form of a green screen with a message the user must confirm. - True - False
- True
A properly loaded set will fit loosely in the upper fitment recess and will wiggle slightly when moved. - True - False
- True
Always remember to close the roller clamp before opening the pump door. - True - False

An optional hospital-defined and editable starting value for the continuous infusion dose might already be entered. - True - False

Basic Infusions cannot be promoted to a Guardrails Suite MX intermittent drug. They can only be promoted to a Guardrails Suite MX continuous infusion. - True - False
- True
Basic Infusions do not provide any Guardrails Suite MX drug safety. - True - False
- True
If the programmed drug is outside of the hard limit for that care area, the infusion must reprogrammed. - True - False
- True
Misloaded sets can cause an infusion rate inaccuracy. - True - False
- True
Once a patient weight is entered and the infusion is started, the patient weight is automatically entered for any additional weight-based calculation. Since it remains an editable field, the patient weight can be adjusted for any module. - True - False

Once programming is complete and Start is pressed for a Secondary infusion, it is important to validate that drops are flowing from the secondary drip chamber before walking away. - True - False
- True
Once started, the drug name and dose will scroll on the module message display. - True - False
- True
Properly primed sets assist with minimizing air-in-line issues and optimizes infusion delivery. - True - False

Pump Mode automatically establishes the alarm limit at 525 millimeter of mercury when flow rates are 30 milliliters per hour or greater. For rates less than 30 milliliters per hour, occlusion alarm limits are based on rate and patient back-pressure to help ensure rapid response to occlusions. - True - False
- True
The Dynamic Pressure Display provides a graphic display of patient-side (downstream) pressure and occlusion alarm threshold. - True - False
- True
The first step for all programming is to begin with pressing "Channel Select" on the module intended for use. - True - False

The hanger provided in the secondary set allows for the primary container to be lowered 9.5 inches and should be used when administering a secondary drug. - True - False
- True
The primary fluid container should be approximately 20 inches above the top of the pump module - True - False
- True
The secondary mode is designed to support delivery of secondary infusions (or piggybacks) on the same module. When the Secondary VTBI reaches zero, the Primary infusion programming will automatically resume. - True - False
- True
There is no Guardrails Suite MX safety software protection in the Drug Calculation feature. - True - False
- True
When changing a patient weight on a running continuous infusion, a prompt to confirm the weight change appears because the dose will recalculate based on the new weight. - True - False
- True
When delivering a secondary medication, the primary infusion is temporarily stopped and fluid is drawn from the secondary container. Delivery from the primary container resumes when the fluid level in the secondary line is level with the fluid in the primary container. - True - False
- True
When priming an in-line filter, do not invert the filter. After it is primed, clamp below to maintain the prime. - True - False
- True
When programming a Guardrails IV fluid entry, users can utilize either the Rate and VTBI as an option or the Volume Duration soft key, which will calculate a rate based on VTBI and Duration. - True - False
- True
When removing a set from the module, the safety clamp fitment will be in the closed position. You may leave the safety clamp fitment in the closed position when/if reloading. - True - False
- True
When setting up the Alaris System, ensure the system is as close to the patient's heart level as possible. - True - False
- True
When spiking a bottle or semi-rigid contain that requires venting, ensure the vent is closed when the container is spiked. Keep the vent closed until you have filled the drip chamber 2/3 full to avoid wetting the vent. - True - False

When programming a secondary medication, select all that are true: - Use the hanger to lower the Primary fluid - Press Channel Select on the infusing Primary fluid - Press the Secondary Soft Key - Locate, select, and program the desired drug - VTBI and Duration may already be prepopulated and can be adjusted - Open the clamp on the Secondary administration set prior to pressing Start - Verify drops are flowing from the secondary drip chamber
