Explain why the Bill of Rights was added to the Constitution and what it is..

The Bill of Rights is the first 10 amendments to the Constitution that protect the rights and freedoms of American citizens. The Bill of Rights was added to the Constitution so that the anti-federalists would agree to ratify the Constitution. Without the Bill of Rights the anti-federalists felt like the new constitution didn't do enough to protect their rights.. They felt that a Bill of Rights would protect their individual liberties, and insure they were guaranteed certain personal freedoms. They felt that a Bill of Rights would also keep the government from becoming too powerful.
