Biology Chapter 5 section 1
Tumor-Cancerous cells generally divide much faster than normal cells. They may form a mass of abnormal cells ex. Cancerous Tumor
Tumors swell up and cause a great amount of pain, which will eventually kill you.
Cytokinesis-As in prokaryotic cells, during this step the cytoplasm divides and two daughter cells form. " Ex. Cell
Cytokinesis is the second major step in Cell Division.
DNA Replication-Just before the cell divides, its DNA is copied in a process called DNA replication. " Ex.DNA
DNA replication helps DNA to be copied.
Binary Fission- A process by which most prokaryotic cells divide. Ex. Prokaryotic Cell
Ex. Prokaryotic CellMost prokaryotic cells divide by the process of binary fission.
Interphase-During interphase, the cell grows, performs routine life processes, and prepares to divide. EX. G1
Interphase is the name of the other three groups when grouped together.
Mitosis -a multi-phase process in which the nucleus of the cell divides" Ex. Cell Division
Mitosis is the first major step in cell division.
Cell Cycle -a repeating series of events that include growth, DNA synthesis, and cell division. Ex. Eukaryotic Cell Cycle
The Cell Cycle is just a repeating series of events.
Cancer- A disease that occurs when the cell cycle is no longer regulated. Ex. Lung Cancer
Today, cancer is one of the leading causes of death.
Cell Division-"the process in which one cell, called the parent cell, divides to form two new cells, referred to as daughter cells." ex. Cell Division in Eukaryotes
ex. Cell Division in EukaryotesCell division is one of the main processes that occurs in the cell cycle.
